Best value: an EVGA FTW3 Ultra or FTW3 Black bought significantly below comparable listings. Best liquid-cooled option: ASUS ROG Strix LC RTX 3090 Ti OC, but only if the radiator and pump are verified.
By April 2026, the RTX 3090 Ti is primarily a used, open-box or old-stock purchase. Condition, seller protection, warranty eligibility, case clearance and power delivery matter more than a small factory-overclock difference.
Should you buy an RTX 3090 Ti in April 2026?
Buy one for its 24 GB of GDDR6X memory, not because it is a current-generation gaming leader. That capacity remains useful for high-resolution texture packs, some creator applications and local AI models. Newer GPUs can provide better efficiency, ray tracing, upscaling, frame-generation features, media engines and warranty support, sometimes with less VRAM.
The 3090 Ti is a 450 W-class Ampere card. A low purchase price is essential once you account for electricity, a suitable power supply and the risk of aging fans, memory thermal pads or liquid-cooling components. Do not treat an asking price as a market value: April 2026 eBay results show completed sales activity, but the available records do not establish a reliable U.S. model-by-model median (April 17 sale; April 25 sale).

| ASUS TUF / Gigabyte Gaming OC | Air cooler | Verify the exact model | Verify the exact model | Verify the particular listing | Discounted, tested cards | Only worthwhile when substantially cheaper |
All variants use the same RTX 3090 Ti GPU and 24 GB memory configuration. The comparison is based on cooler design, physical fit, power delivery, condition and price rather than a claim that one board is dramatically faster.
The best RTX 3090 Ti cards
MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X 24G: best overall air-cooled card
MSI specifies a 1,950 MHz gaming/silent boost clock, a 1,965 MHz extreme-performance setting through MSI Center, 24 GB of 21 Gbps GDDR6X and a 338 × 140 × 71 mm chassis. It is a substantial triple-fan design with metal construction and a stated 850 W recommended power supply (MSI specifications; MSI datasheet).
Choose it when its price is close to ordinary 3090 Ti listings and the card passes sustained-load testing. Do not pay a large premium solely for the advertised clock; GPU Boost, power limits, silicon variation, dust and thermal-pad condition have a larger effect on an older card.

EVGA FTW3 Ultra or FTW3 Black: best value
EVGA’s FTW3 Black specification lists 10,752 CUDA cores, a 1,860 MHz boost clock, 24 GB of GDDR6X, 1,008 GB/s bandwidth, a 300 mm length and a 3.5-slot design. It specifies an 850 W-or-greater power supply and includes an eLeash anti-sag support feature (EVGA specifications).
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIt is the value pick when a tested FTW3 is materially cheaper than a SUPRIM X or ASUS card. EVGA’s former warranty and support arrangements should not be assumed transferable in 2026: check the serial number, region, registration and seller documentation before paying extra for supposed coverage.
ASUS ROG Strix LC RTX 3090 Ti OC: best liquid-cooled option
The Strix LC is a specialist choice for a case with radiator space or for a buyer prioritizing GPU-core temperatures. It is not a general winner: the pump, radiator fans, tubing and fluid path create more failure points than an air cooler, and replacing the complete assembly can be difficult.

- Accessories may not be original, but will be compatible and fully functional. Product may come in generic box.
Request evidence of pump noise, radiator condition, coolant leakage, operating temperatures, warranty status and every included mounting accessory. A liquid-cooled card is worthwhile only when the installation suits your case and its price compensates for the additional risk. Historical model comparisons identify the ASUS LC design as a water-cooled performance option (Tech4Gamers comparison).
Gigabyte Waterforce, ASUS TUF and Gaming OC models
These can be sensible purchases when substantially cheaper than the premium cards and supported by a return period. Waterforce models require the same pump-and-radiator checks as the ASUS LC. Air-cooled TUF and Gaming OC cards should be judged by memory temperatures, fan condition and physical fit, not their badge or a small boost-clock difference. Historical model lists include these families among the principal 3090 Ti variants (GPU model database).

RTX 3090 Ti specifications and power requirements
NVIDIA’s reference specifications are:
| Specification | RTX 3090 Ti |
|---|---|
| Architecture | Ampere |
| CUDA cores | 10,752 |
| Base / reference boost | 1.56 / 1.86 GHz |
| Memory | 24 GB GDDR6X, 21 Gbps |
| Memory interface / bandwidth | 384-bit / 1,008 GB/s |
| Bus | PCIe 4.0 |
| Ray-tracing / Tensor cores | Second-generation / third-generation |
| Display capability | Up to 8K-class output, configuration dependent |
NVIDIA says add-in-board specifications vary and the card uses a 16-pin connector through an adapter requiring three PCIe 8-pin cables from the power supply (NVIDIA specifications). Use a reputable modern PSU rated at least 850 W; a quality 1,000 W unit gives more headroom for a high-power CPU, transient loads or overclocking. This is practical headroom, not a universal manufacturer requirement.

- Use three independent PCIe power leads with the supplied adapter where applicable, rather than one daisy-chained lead.
- Seat the 16-pin plug fully and avoid a sharp bend immediately at the connector.
- Check GPU length, height, thickness, side-panel clearance and blocked expansion slots.
- For liquid models, include radiator, fan and tubing clearance in the measurement.
- Install a support bracket for these unusually heavy cards.
How to buy a used RTX 3090 Ti safely
- Confirm identity. Ask for a GPU-Z screenshot showing the exact model and 24 GB VRAM, plus a photo of the serial label.
- Ask about history. Get written answers about mining or 24/7 rendering, repairs, repadding, BIOS modification, coil whine and storage conditions.
- Demand sustained testing. Request a prolonged gaming or benchmark run at stock settings with artifact monitoring, not just a desktop screenshot.
- Check thermals. Obtain GPU-core, hotspot and memory-junction readings where software exposes them. A cool core does not prove that GDDR6X memory is cool.
- Test every mechanical part. Verify fans at multiple speeds, all display outputs, connector condition and, on LC cards, pump noise and radiator fans.
- Verify accessories and returns. Confirm the correct 16-pin adapter or compatible cable, original bracket, radiator hardware and a usable return period.
- Inspect on arrival. Look for corrosion, damaged screws, missing shrouds, stripped connectors, bent PCB areas and evidence of repair before installing it.
Missing memory-temperature data is a reason for extra caution, not proof that the card is healthy. A short successful benchmark cannot expose every thermal or memory-instability problem.
RTX 3090 versus RTX 3090 Ti versus newer GPUs
| Priority | RTX 3090 | RTX 3090 Ti | Newer-generation GPU |
|---|---|---|---|
| VRAM | 24 GB | 24 GB | Varies by model; may be lower |
| Raster performance | Lower than Ti | Higher than 3090 | Model dependent |
| Ray tracing and AI features | Older Ampere feature set | Older Ampere feature set | Generally newer features and better efficiency |
| Power efficiency | High power draw | Higher board-power class | Often better |
| Warranty | Usually used-market dependent | Usually used-market dependent | New-product warranty more likely |
NVIDIA lists 10,496 CUDA cores and a 1.70 GHz boost for the RTX 3090 versus 10,752 cores and a 1.86 GHz reference boost for the Ti (NVIDIA comparison). A TechSpot launch-era test found the Ti about 11% faster than the 3090 across its 4K game suite, but that 2022 result is historical context, not an April 2026 universal benchmark (TechSpot review).
Compare the total cost of a used 3090 Ti with a newer, warrantied card. For occasional AI or rendering, cloud rental may be cheaper than owning a high-power aging GPU; for persistent local gaming, it may not be.

Common traps to avoid
- Buying an RTX 3090 advertised as a 3090 Ti.
- Trusting photos that show a different model from the shipped item.
- Assuming an old EVGA warranty transfers without serial and regional verification.
- Ignoring memory-junction temperature because the GPU-core temperature looks normal.
- Using an unknown adapter or sharply bending the 16-pin cable.
- Forgetting that a 3.5-slot card can block other expansion slots.
- Paying for “new” old stock without meaningful manufacturer warranty.
- Assuming 8K output support means playable 8K rendering.
Final verdict
Buy the MSI SUPRIM X when it is competitively priced, fits your case and passes sustained thermal testing. Choose an EVGA FTW3 when it is materially cheaper and the seller can prove condition and support eligibility. Choose the ASUS ROG Strix LC only for a compatible radiator installation and a buyer comfortable with pump risk. Skip every 3090 Ti listing that is untested, repaired without disclosure, unusually expensive or unable to provide power, temperature and return information.
