Spoilers ahead for the standard NYT Connections puzzle #885, dated Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The four groups are SPORTS, DOOFUS, ACRONYMS, and SPANISH WORDS.

Hints for Connections #885

Try the clues before reading the full groups:

  1. Competitive activities

These are progressive hints from TechRadar’s puzzle guide, rather than a verified transcription of clues displayed in the official game. TechRadar’s guide to the November 12 puzzle lists the date and puzzle number; a Parade search result also corroborates #885 and its broad themes.

How this puzzle fits the game

TechRadar describes Connections as a game in which players sort sixteen items into four groups of four. Its guide says the color-coded categories indicate different difficulty levels and that players can make up to four mistakes. It also says the game is playable through NYT Games on desktop or mobile; these format details are attributed to the guide, not independently checked against the official game page.

This is the standard Connections puzzle, not Connections: Sports Edition. TechRadar gave this puzzle a “Hard” rating, which is the guide writer’s subjective assessment rather than an objective difficulty statistic.
