Subnautica: Below Zero launched on mobile on March 10, 2026. The paid, standalone adaptation is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, but compatibility is stricter than a simple “iOS 15” or “Android 10” check. Confirm your exact phone or tablet in the store before buying.

Release date, platforms and purchase model
Playdigious lists March 10, 2026 as the mobile release date. The game is sold for iOS and Android as a separate purchase; owning the PC or console edition does not automatically unlock this mobile version. The store listings identify Unknown Worlds as the developer and seller, while Playdigious supplies the mobile port and support information.

Prices vary by country, storefront and promotion. Playdigious’ pricing FAQ gives an intended price of $9.99/€9.99 and references a 10% pre-release discount, so check the checkout screen in your own region rather than treating either observed listing as universal.
This is not a free-to-play companion app, a demo, downloadable content for the original Subnautica, or a cloud-streaming client. It is a standalone mobile game. Buying Subnautica and buying Below Zero are separate transactions.

What the mobile edition includes
Below Zero returns you to Planet 4546B, this time in an arctic region where freezing conditions are as important as the ocean. The story follows an investigation into what happened to the protagonist’s sister. Its core systems remain exploration, survival, resource gathering, crafting, base construction, vehicles, creatures and story progression.
The mobile listings describe a redesigned interface and complete touch controls. iOS includes Game Center achievements and cloud saves between iOS devices; Android includes Google Play Games achievements. Those cloud-save descriptions do not establish cross-save with PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or between iOS and Android.
Check compatibility before you pay
Important: an operating-system or RAM requirement is only the starting point. Playdigious blocks hardware that failed its performance testing, and some devices that technically meet Apple’s chip requirement are explicitly excluded.
iPhone and iPad requirements
The App Store lists iOS 15 or later, an A12 Bionic-class chip or newer, and an app size of approximately 2.4 GB. Reserve additional free storage for installation, updates and saves.

Read the complete compatibility guide for the exact model list. Playdigious says it cannot issue iOS refunds directly; incompatible-device refund requests go through Apple.
Android requirements and exclusions
Android 10 or later is required, and devices with 4 GB of RAM or less are excluded. Google Play may still mark a newer, higher-RAM device as incompatible because of its GPU or observed performance. Playdigious says it does not plan to add more phone models or GPU families after release.
Named exclusions include Google Pixel C; Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Pro Fold; Poco M3; Samsung A21s; Motorola Edge 50 Pro; OnePlus Nord CE4; Vivo iQOO Z9s Pro; Vivo V30, V40, V50, S18, S19, S20, T3 Pro and Y200 GT; Honor 100, 200, 300, 400 and Honor Power; HTC U24 Pro; and Oppo F31 Pro+, A6 Max, K12 and K12 Plus. The guide also blocks GPU families such as Adreno 610–619, Adreno 630 and Adreno 720, selected Mali chips, PowerVR GM9446/GE8320/GE8322 and certain Imagination BXM configurations. Because regional variants can use different hardware, the store result for your exact device is the decisive check.
Touch controls, controllers and keyboard support
Touch play is supported and can be adjusted under Options > Touch Controls. You can resize on-screen controls and choose a fixed or floating joystick. Controller settings are under Options > Controller, including stick sensitivity and dead zones.

On iOS, Playdigious confirms support for all MFi-certified controllers. Android controller support exists in principle, but compatibility is not guaranteed for every phone-and-controller combination. For long sessions, a physical controller is a sensible choice because swimming, inventory management, crafting, scanning, vehicles and base building create a heavy touch-control workload; that is a usability recommendation, not a measured performance claim.
Android gained keyboard-and-mouse support in update 1.22.55044, dated April 13, 2026. This can make a compatible tablet setup more practical, but it does not change the game’s device requirements.
Before you buy: ownership, saves and storage
- Budget for a separate purchase: a PC or console copy does not establish mobile entitlement.
- Do not assume cross-progression: iOS cloud saves are described as sharing progress between iOS devices only. No evidence here promises PC, console or iOS-to-Android save transfer.
- Leave headroom: the iOS listing is about 2.4 GB; updates and save data need additional space.
- Expect device-specific graphics: supported lower-tier Apple hardware may have locked-down detail and resolution options.

Common problems and fixes
The app does not appear in my store
Your device may be filtered out, the title may not have rolled out to your country storefront, or you may be viewing the listing for the other platform. Do not sideload an unofficial APK: the compatibility filter exists because excluded hardware did not pass performance testing.

The game crashes at startup
Use Options > Graphics to restore default graphics settings, as recommended in the crash troubleshooting guidance. On an incompatible iOS device, contact Apple about any refund request.
The graphics look limited
That can be expected on Apple devices in the reduced-settings tier: low landscape detail and fewer resolution choices are deliberate compatibility limits. Increasing frame-rate settings aggressively can destabilize those devices.
My controller is not recognized
On iOS, verify that it is MFi-certified. On Android, test the specific controller with your device because support is not universal. If you stay with touch, adjust control size and joystick style in Options > Touch Controls. See the controller FAQ and controls guide.

Wait or skip it if your device is only marginally above the minimum, Google Play marks it incompatible, storage is tight, you require PC/console cross-save or cross-buy, or you dislike touch-heavy inventory and crafting. Verify the live price and compatibility result immediately before purchase.
