First, identify your accessory
The reset instructions are not interchangeable between official accessories.

Before moving to the new phone
- Charge the accessory or replace its battery.
- Install or update Pokémon GO, then sign in to the same account you use on the old phone.
- Turn on Bluetooth and grant Pokémon GO the Bluetooth or nearby-device permissions requested by iOS or Android.
- Keep the accessory close to the new phone.
- If possible, eject the accessory in Pokémon GO on the old phone. If the old phone is nearby, temporarily turn off its Bluetooth so it cannot reconnect first.
- Do not add the accessory through the phone’s ordinary Bluetooth-pairing screen. Pokémon GO’s official instructions direct you to pair through the app.
Pair the original Pokémon GO Plus with a new phone
- Open Pokémon GO and go to the map.
- Tap Main Menu.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Connected Devices and Services.
- Tap Accessory Devices. App labels can move after updates, but this is the current path documented by Pokémon GO.
- Press the Pokémon GO Plus’s main button to wake it and place it into connection mode.
- Wait for the device to appear under Available Devices, then tap the listed Pokémon GO Plus.
- Wait for one vibration. That vibration confirms the pairing.
- Return to the map and check that the accessory icon is available.

If it was paired with another phone
Old phone still works
- On the old phone, open Pokémon GO.
- Go to Main Menu → Settings → Connected Devices and Services → Accessory Devices.
- Tap the eject icon beside the accessory.
- Turn off Bluetooth on the old phone, or shut it down temporarily.
- Try the new-phone pairing steps above.
If the accessory was only disconnected, this may be all you need. If Pokémon GO still says it is associated with another phone or the device never appears, reset the original Pokémon GO Plus.
Old phone is lost, broken, or wiped
Try pairing directly on the new phone first. If the original device remains unavailable or appears stuck in its previous pairing state, perform the factory reset below. Resetting the accessory clears its pairing state; it does not delete your Pokémon GO account, character, or game progress.
Factory-reset the original Pokémon GO Plus
- Press and hold the main button for five seconds.
- When the indicator glows blue, release the button.
- Press and hold the main button again for another five seconds.
- When the device vibrates, the reset is complete.
- Return to Pokémon GO and repeat Main Menu → Settings → Connected Devices and Services → Accessory Devices.

If the accessory does not appear

- Confirm that you have the original Pokémon GO Plus, not Pokémon GO Plus + or Poké Ball Plus.
- Check the battery and press the main button once to wake the accessory.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled and Pokémon GO has the required Bluetooth or nearby-device permission.
- Close the Accessory Devices screen, reopen it, and press the main button again.
- Restart Pokémon GO.
- Restart the phone.
- Move away from crowded Bluetooth environments and other nearby phones that have used the accessory.
- Disable Bluetooth on the old phone or eject the accessory there.
- Remove the in-app connection and try again. If the operating system retains a stale Bluetooth record, clear that connected-device entry; doing so can affect other Bluetooth accessories.
- Factory-reset the original Pokémon GO Plus using the two five-second holds.
- Reinstall Pokémon GO only as a late step. It is disruptive and is not normally required for a simple phone switch.

Pokémon GO Plus + is different
For Pokémon GO Plus +, unpair it from the original smart device and then pair it with the new one according to official Pokémon GO Plus + support. Unpairing can make stored Pokémon Sleep data unretrievable, so sync or review that data before removing the old connection. Pokémon GO’s general guidance does not normally require the original Pokémon GO Plus factory reset for Plus + switching.
Pokémon GO Plus + is an official Bluetooth Low Energy accessory for Pokémon GO and Pokémon Sleep. Nintendo’s product announcement lists a U.S. regular price of $54.99, but that is not a guarantee of today’s stock or retail price; it also cannot be used with Nintendo Switch systems: Nintendo’s product announcement.
Pairing, reconnecting, and resetting are different
- Pairing: Establishes the accessory’s relationship with Pokémon GO on a phone, usually once per phone or after a reset.
- Connecting: Starts a play session with an accessory that is already paired.
- Unpairing or ejecting: Removes the in-app relationship from the current phone.
- Factory reset: Clears the accessory’s stored pairing state.
Do not factory-reset every time the accessory fails to reconnect. After initial pairing, tap the accessory icon on the map and press the device’s main button to start a later session. A vibration and the map icon indicate that the connection is active.

On the map, tap Main Menu, then Settings, Connected Devices and Services, and Accessory Devices. Press the original Pokémon GO Plus main button. When Pokémon GO lists it under Available Devices, tap the name. The accessory vibrates once when pairing succeeds. Do I pair Pokémon GO Plus from iPhone or Android Bluetooth settings?
No. Enable Bluetooth in the operating system and grant permissions, but select the accessory from Pokémon GO’s Connected Devices and Services → Accessory Devices menu.
Do I need to reset the original Pokémon GO Plus whenever I change phones?
Not always. Eject it from the old phone and try normal pairing first. Reset it if Pokémon GO reports a prior pairing or the accessory remains invisible.

Is the Pokémon GO Plus + reset the same?
No. Pokémon GO Plus + uses different controls and generally follows an unpair-then-pair workflow instead of the original GO Plus reset sequence.
Can one accessory be connected to two phones at the same time?
No. Disconnect or eject it from the old Pokémon GO session before starting a session on the new phone.
