If Google Authenticator codes are being rejected when you sign in to “Uplay,” first turn on automatic date, time, and time zone on your phone, confirm you have the right Ubisoft entry, then wait for a fresh code and submit it promptly. Uplay is the older name many players still use; the current PC login client is Ubisoft Connect. A missing or rejected code is often a clock, account, or token-transfer problem—not an internet connection problem with Authenticator itself.
Try these checks first
- Check the phone’s clock. In your phone’s Settings, find Date & time (or the equivalent) and enable automatic date and time and automatic time zone. Menu names vary by device. Restart Google Authenticator after changing the settings.
- Choose the Ubisoft code. Open the entry for the Ubisoft account you are signing into. If you have multiple Ubisoft entries, check each label and compare it with the account email or username shown during login.
- Use a fresh code. If the displayed code is about to change, wait for the next one and enter it immediately, without spaces or punctuation. Don’t rely on a screenshot or keep resubmitting a code that has already failed.
Google Authenticator generates codes locally, so generating one does not require internet or mobile service. Signing in to Ubisoft and opening support pages still requires network access. Google’s current guidance says codes must be for the correct service and account, entered before expiry, and based on synchronized device time: Google Authenticator troubleshooting.
Older instructions may tell you to use an in-app “time correction” setting. That setting is no longer available in Google Authenticator version 7.0 and later; the app relies on the phone’s operating-system time settings instead. Avoid setting the clock manually as a workaround.
If Ubisoft still rejects the code

- Make sure you are signing into the same Ubisoft account that enabled 2-Step Verification. A code for a second Ubisoft account will not work.
- Check for duplicate Ubisoft entries or a label that refers to an old email address or username.
- If you use multiple Google Accounts in Authenticator, tap the profile icon and check the account that may contain the Ubisoft entry. Google Authenticator codes may appear missing when you are signed out of the Google Account that synchronized them or are looking under another account.
- If you use more than one authenticator app, remember that installing another app does not give it the Ubisoft token. It needs the original secret or a supported transfer.
Authenticator codes can be correct for one account and still be wrong for the account currently being authenticated. If Google Authenticator works with other services but not Ubisoft, check the Ubisoft entry and account first rather than assuming the whole app is broken.
If you got a new phone or reinstalled Authenticator
Whether the Ubisoft entry can be restored depends on how it was stored. Google Authenticator synchronization can carry codes across devices when you are signed in to the relevant Google Account and synchronization is available. Google lists support from version 6.0 on Android and version 4.0 on iOS. A token that was stored only on the old phone will not reappear just because you reinstall the app.

If the old phone is available
- Keep the old phone intact and install the latest Google Authenticator on the new phone.
- On the old phone, open Menu > Transfer accounts > Export accounts, unlock the phone if asked, select the Ubisoft entry, and tap Next to display the QR code.
- On the new phone, choose Menu > Transfer accounts > Import accounts and scan that QR code.
- Test the new code by signing in to Ubisoft before erasing or trading in the old phone.
The labels can vary by app version. Google’s transfer instructions require access to the old device for manual export: Google Authenticator transfer and sync guidance.
If the entry is missing
Open Authenticator’s profile menu and check each Google Account listed, then check whether the app is being used without a Google Account. If you still have the old phone, look there before doing anything destructive. Also check for an earlier Authenticator export or a device that remains signed in to Ubisoft.

Do not uninstall Authenticator, delete the Ubisoft entry, or reset the old phone as a first step. Deleting the entry does not disable Ubisoft 2-Step Verification or create a replacement token. If the old token is gone and no recovery method is available, Ubisoft account support is the appropriate next route.
If you cannot access the authenticator
On Ubisoft’s verification screen, look for an option such as Use a recovery code, Try another method, or No access to Google Authenticator. Wording varies by account and sign-in flow. A recovery code is different from the rotating six-digit Authenticator code; enter it only through the recovery option Ubisoft provides, not in the normal code field unless directed.

Check for the recovery information provided when 2-Step Verification was enabled, including the associated email. Do not assume that recovering your Google Account will restore a Ubisoft token: that only helps if the token had been synchronized with that Google Account.
If you are already signed in to Ubisoft on another browser or device, do not sign out. Use the active session to review account-security settings or, if the current account interface allows it, change or re-enroll 2-Step Verification. Ubisoft has an account article on deactivating 2-Step Verification; available controls depend on the account flow.

When to contact Ubisoft Support
Contact Ubisoft if you have neither the old authenticator token nor a usable recovery method, if the account requests 2-Step Verification you do not recognize, or if the checks above do not resolve a repeated rejection. Ubisoft says users can contact its team without verification or recovery codes, but it may require an alternate account-ownership check. Its published guidance describes 2-Step Verification for services including Ubisoft Connect PC: Ubisoft 2-Step Verification information.
Start at Ubisoft Support. Ubisoft also directs users seeking technical help to its support site on its contact page. Include information that can help establish ownership:
- The account email and username, if known
- The platform and, if relevant, operating system or Ubisoft Connect version
- Approximate account-creation date and games associated with the account
- Purchase receipts or transaction IDs, if available
- Whether you can still access the original account email
- A short description of when the token became unavailable or began being rejected
Never send your password, a current one-time code, recovery codes, the Authenticator secret key, or full payment-card details. Do not share codes with people offering help in forums, Discord, or unsolicited messages.
Quick Recap
Quick symptom guide
| What you see | Likely explanation | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Every code is rejected | Incorrect phone time, wrong Ubisoft entry, or wrong Ubisoft account | Enable automatic time and time zone; verify the entry and account; try a fresh code. |
| The code changes while you type | Normal one-time-code expiry, or a device-clock mismatch | Wait for a fresh code and submit it promptly after enabling automatic time. |
| The Ubisoft entry disappeared | Wrong Google Account, local-only storage, or deleted token | Check every Authenticator account and the old phone before reinstalling or resetting anything. |
| Codes stopped working after a phone change | The token may not have synchronized or transferred | Check Google Account sync or export it from the old phone. If neither is possible, use Ubisoft recovery or support. |
| A recovery code is rejected | It may be in the wrong field, already used, or not the right recovery credential | Use the recovery option exactly as labeled; contact Ubisoft if no code works. |
| You never remember enabling 2-Step Verification | The account may have been configured earlier or accessed by someone else | Secure the email account and contact Ubisoft to verify ownership. |
| Ubisoft returns to the same verification prompt | A session or client issue, or an unresolved account-verification issue | Try signing in on Ubisoft’s account website or in a private browser session; update Ubisoft Connect, then contact support if the prompt persists. |
| A Ubisoft email does not arrive | Wrong account email, spam filtering, delivery delay, or an account-access problem | Check the address and spam folder, then use Ubisoft Support if you cannot receive account messages. |
Prevent the next lockout
- If you use Google Authenticator synchronization, confirm the app is signed in to the Google Account that holds the codes.
- Before replacing a phone, transfer the Ubisoft entry and test a login on the new device before wiping the old one.
- Keep recovery information somewhere secure and separate from the phone; never post it or send it to another person.
- Keep a working Ubisoft session signed in until you have confirmed that your replacement recovery method works.
