What the full path looks like
On a typical Windows installation, the expanded path is C:Users<WindowsUserName>Saved GamesCD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077. The environment-variable version is preferable: Windows may be installed on another drive, or the profile may be redirected.
The documented save location is the same for Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store versions; the game’s installation folder in a storefront client is separate from the user save folder. CD PROJEKT RED’s clean-install instructions distinguish the two locations: How do I perform a clean install of the game?

Identify and back up a save
Each save entry is a folder containing three files:

Back up the entire Cyberpunk 2077 save directory, including the individual save folders and all three files in each. CD PROJEKT RED asks players contacting support to provide these files together: Contact to support.

Why the folder may not be where you expect
It is not normally in Documents or AppData
The current official path uses Saved Games, not Documents. Paths often repeated online such as DocumentsCD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077, AppDataLocalCD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077SaveGames, and AppDataLocalLowCD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077SaveGames are not the current save location documented by CD PROJEKT RED.
AppData may appear in the publisher’s clean-install directions for configuration or cache folders, including REDEngine and CD Projekt Red; it is not the documented primary save folder. If you need to reveal hidden items in Explorer, use Windows 10: View → Hidden items, or Windows 11: View → Show → Hidden items.

Check the signed-in Windows account
Because %userprofile% points to the currently signed-in account, make sure you are using the Windows profile that played the game. If the path does not open, check for a redirected profile or try the corresponding expanded path under that account’s profile directory.
Protect saves before reinstalling
CD PROJEKT RED’s clean-install procedure removes both the local save directory and the game’s installation folder in the Steam, GOG, or Epic Games Store client directory. These are different folders. Before following a clean-install procedure, copy the entire save directory somewhere safe and disable the game’s Cloud Saves feature before uninstalling. If a save still will not load
When contacting support, include the relevant save’s three files and identify your game version and expansion status. CD PROJEKT RED’s support form asks whether Phantom Liberty is in use and whether the playthrough began before or after the 2.0 update. In versions 1.63 and earlier, the version number appears at the lower-left of the main menu; in newer versions, it appears at the top right. The form currently lists 2.31 as the latest selectable version: CD PROJEKT RED support form.
