When does Phantom Blade Zero release?
S-GAME’s official game site gives October 29, 2026 as the release date. Regional storefront timing differs: PlayStation Blog says the game arrives on October 28 in the US and select regions, and Steam lists October 28 for the PC version. Check your local PlayStation, Steam or Epic Games Store page for the date and time that applies to your account.

S-GAME’s official site serves as the central media hub, with links for the Play Trailer, the Year of the Snake trailer, the first gameplay trailer and the announcement trailer. Official PlayStation and Epic Games pages also host trailer and gameplay material.
Because the available pages do not establish a single, permanently “latest” trailer, use the official media hub or the trailer embedded on the relevant store page rather than relying on an undated repost. Trailer footage demonstrates the game’s presentation and advertised systems; it is not independent evidence of final performance or quality.
What is Phantom Blade Zero about?
You play as Soul, a warrior framed for murdering his master. He survives the attempt to kill him but has only 66 days to live. During that countdown, he travels through the Wulin while investigating the conspiracy behind the accusation.
PlayStation describes the game as a dark wuxia action RPG built with Unreal Engine 5. Steam presents it as a fusion of classic wuxia storytelling and action. S-GAME calls its aesthetic “Kungfupunk,” combining traditional martial-arts and wuxia influences with fantasy and mechanical elements. Those labels are the publisher’s descriptions, not independent assessments of how the finished game feels to play.

Weapon-focused action
S-GAME describes cinematic, weapon-based combat and exploration. Soul can use more than 30 main weapons, according to Soulframe Liang, S-GAME’s Founder and CEO, in an August 17, 2026 PlayStation Blog post.
Phantom Edges and builds
The secondary weapons are called Phantom Edges. Liang’s post says there are 25 of them, while the PlayStation product page says “20+ unique Phantom Edges.” The official descriptions therefore establish a sizable secondary-weapon roster but do not provide one consistent final count.
Weapons can be upgraded and paired with accessories. Upgraded weapons can also be reforged to recover materials, allowing experimentation without permanently losing those resources.
Summons and exploration
The advertised systems include summons, exploration across the Wulin, citizens to encounter, side quests that can open story paths and secrets connected to the central story. These details come from S-GAME’s official descriptions; they do not specify how many side quests, areas or summons the finished game contains.

The August 17, 2026 PlayStation Blog post names three difficulty choices:

Donnie Yen’s role
S-GAME credits Donnie Yen as the game’s Creative Consultant and as the performer for Mó Yuan’s facial and motion capture. In the PlayStation Blog wording, “Donnie Yen serves as our Creative Consultant while also bringing Mó Yuan to life through facial and motion capture.” Epic’s August 12, 2026 coverage likewise describes Yen’s involvement and identifies him as an actor, filmmaker, martial artist and action director.
These are production credits supplied by S-GAME and its official coverage; they do not by themselves establish how large Mó Yuan’s role is in the story.

PlayStation’s US store page and Steam’s PC listing showed these amounts at the stated access date. They are regional storefront prices, not a universal price, and may change.
Pre-order items
PlayStation describes the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy appearance as early-unlock pre-order bonuses. The same listing says both can also be obtained through in-game progression, so they are time-saving or early-access items rather than permanently exclusive content according to that description.
Other promotions
Epic’s August coverage described a Fortnite Soul Outfit gift with a Phantom Blade Zero pre-purchase on its store. Treat that as a conditional promotion: availability, eligibility and end dates depend on the current Epic Games Store terms and should be checked before purchase.
Which version should you choose?
Choose PS5 if
- You want the console version and DualSense adaptive-trigger and haptic-feedback features.
- You prefer buying through PlayStation’s storefront and its regional release schedule.
Choose PC if
- You want the Steam or Epic Games Store version.
- Your system meets the eventual published PC requirements and you prefer PC display, input and performance settings.
Choose Standard if
- You want the base game at the lower listed price.
- You are not interested in the digital artbook, soundtrack or additional appearances.
Choose Digital Deluxe if
- You specifically value the Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form appearances, digital artbook and soundtrack.
- The $10 premium over the listed Standard price is worthwhile to you.
A separate controller is optional, not a stated requirement. PlayStation’s DualSense features explain the appeal of playing on PS5, but the listings do not say that an additional controller purchase is necessary.
