Logitech G Pro X Wired Gaming Headset Review: Still Worth It in 2026?

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The original Logitech G Pro X Wired is still a capable, sturdy headset for PC gaming and voice chat, but it is no longer an automatic buy at full price. Its detachable boom mic, USB DAC and G HUB processing make the strongest case for PC users willing to tune their sound; console players get basic wired audio, not the headline PC features. Logitech’s U.S. store listed it at $129.99 and in stock on August 18, 2026, a price at which the cheaper PRO X SE and discounted wireless options deserve a close look.

Verdict: a good PC headset, but price matters

The PRO X’s best qualities are its durable steel-and-aluminum construction, detachable microphone, comfortable-for-many fit and PC software features. Independent testing found strong microphone performance and generally balanced sound with slightly elevated bass, but also inconsistent sound delivery between users and weak passive noise isolation. Those findings come from earlier independent testing, not a new 2026 retest. (RTINGS review and update notes; Tom’s Hardware review.)

  • Best for: PC players who want wired reliability, a good boom mic and G HUB controls.
  • Less suitable for: wireless seekers, console-first buyers paying for PC-only processing, people who need strong isolation, or anyone prioritizing low weight.
  • Price context: Logitech listed the original wired PRO X at $129.99, in stock, in the U.S. on August 18, 2026. Price and availability can change. (Logitech product page.)

Which Logitech PRO X is this?

This review covers the original wired Logitech G PRO X, which ships with a USB DAC and a broader accessory set. It is not the PRO X SE, the wireless PRO X LIGHTSPEED, or the newer PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED. Their prices, accessories and wireless hardware differ; reviews of the PRO X 2 should not be treated as evidence about this wired model.

Design, build and comfort

The closed-back, over-ear cups sit on aluminum forks attached to a steel-reinforced headband. Logitech specifies 320 g (11.28 oz) with the microphone boom attached. The restrained black finish has no RGB lighting, and the boom mic detaches when you want a less conspicuous setup. Logitech lists 50 mm hybrid-mesh PRO-G drivers and a 20 Hz–20 kHz frequency response in its technical specifications.

The package includes leatherette pads fitted by default and an extra pair of velour pads. Leatherette tends to seal more closely but can feel warmer; velour is more breathable, though changing pad material can also affect the seal and sound. Fit depends on head shape, clamp preference and whether you wear glasses. Independent reviewers generally found it comfortable, but the weight and closed cups make it a less minimal choice than a lightweight headset.

Sound: capable stereo, optional virtual surround

In stereo, independent testing describes a generally balanced presentation with some bass lift: game effects have impact without necessarily swallowing dialogue or vocals. Results can vary between users, so the headset is not a guaranteed plug-and-play tonal match for everyone. It is better understood as a versatile gaming headset with EQ and mic tools than as a dedicated audiophile headphone.

EQ and DTS Headphone:X 2.0

On PC, the USB DAC and G HUB enable a five-band headphone EQ and DTS Headphone:X 2.0 virtual surround. EQ lets you adjust tonal balance; DTS processes stereo audio to create a more spacious, positional presentation. It is optional, not a guarantee of more accurate footsteps: it may help in some games and sound artificial or less tonally accurate in others. Compare stereo and DTS in the games you play, and avoid stacking DTS with another surround effect from Windows or a game.

Isolation and leakage

RTINGS found passive noise isolation below par, so room noise may remain audible even though the closed-back design can keep leakage relatively low. In other words, the headset may be less disruptive to people nearby than it is isolating for the wearer. If you game beside a TV, fan or other noisy source, do not buy it expecting a strong seal to block the room.

Microphone: a real strength, with software caveats

The detachable boom is a 6 mm cardioid (unidirectional) electret condenser microphone, rated for a 100 Hz–10 kHz response by Logitech. RTINGS found its speech performance impressive and its handling of background noise effective. Tom’s Hardware reported that BLUE VO!CE presets could clarify speech and reduce some hiss and office noise, while noting that this remains a headset microphone rather than a replacement for a dedicated mic. (Logitech specifications; RTINGS; Tom’s Hardware.)

BLUE VO!CE is Logitech’s PC software processing, not an extra console feature or proof of a studio-grade capsule. In G HUB it offers filters including noise reduction, compression, de-essing and voice shaping. Start with processing disabled, then try a conservative preset and adjust only what improves your voice; aggressive filtering can sound unnatural, and reviewers have found some effects unnecessary.

What the USB DAC and G HUB actually add

The included USB DAC is the gateway to the headset’s distinctive software features. Logitech’s setup instructions state that EQ, DTS Headphone:X 2.0 and BLUE VO!CE require the USB DAC on PC. Use the analog cable instead and the headset provides basic audio and mic connectivity through the computer’s own sound hardware, without those G HUB features. (Logitech setup instructions.)

G HUB adds useful control, but also another application and set of settings to manage. If you want a headset that sounds and works without installing software or choosing profiles, much of the PRO X’s price premium is less relevant. Tom’s Hardware described the software as potentially intimidating for newcomers.

Compatibility: the PC features do not follow the headset to every device

Logitech’s current product page lists compatibility with platforms including PS5, Xbox and Switch, but compatibility means basic headset use—not that PC processing is available on those systems. Logitech’s setup documentation limits the USB-DAC features to PC use. Console controller connections are analog stereo with microphone support; mobile use relies on the included mobile cable and its inline mic and controls. Details may vary by console revision and connection method.

Mobile device with mobile cable Yes, using the inline mic No

The compatibility claims are from Logitech’s current product page; connection and feature limitations are described in its setup instructions.

PC setup with the USB DAC

  1. Attach the detachable boom microphone if you need voice chat, then connect the headset cable to the headset.
  2. Connect the PC cable to the included USB DAC and plug the DAC into a USB port.
  3. Install Logitech G HUB, select the PRO X, and configure headphone EQ, BLUE VO!CE and DTS if desired.
  4. Set the headset as the operating system’s playback and recording device; test mic level and sidetone before a call or game.

Analog PC, console and mobile setup

  1. Analog PC: connect the headset to the PC cable. Use the Y-splitter if the computer has separate headphone and microphone jacks. Select the computer’s analog output and mic input; G HUB’s USB-DAC features are unavailable.
  2. Console: attach the boom, connect the console cable to the headset and plug the other end into the controller. Select the headset as the audio device if required.
  3. Mobile: remove the boom if preferred, connect the mobile cable to the headset and phone, and use the cable’s inline mic and controls.

If the headset is not detected

As practical isolation steps, try another USB port, verify the operating system’s playback and recording selections, and check whether G HUB recognizes the headset. Test the analog connection to help distinguish a headset or cable issue from a USB-DAC or software issue. Reseat the boom mic, bypass the DAC on a console, and check for a second surround effect in the game or operating system. These are troubleshooting suggestions, not manufacturer-confirmed fixes.

PRO X Wired vs. PRO X SE and wireless alternatives

The closest comparison is the PRO X SE, a lower-cost wired variant. Logitech’s store showed the SE at $79.99 on sale against a $119.99 reference price, but it was temporarily sold out when checked. RTINGS describes it as omitting accessories found with the full PRO X, including the carrying bag, mobile cable and extra velour pads. Check current stock and bundle contents before choosing. PRO X SE Wired $79.99 sale price vs. $119.99 reference price; temporarily sold out when checked Lower-cost wired option if you do not need the omitted accessories
PRO X Wireless LIGHTSPEED $149.99 sale price vs. $179.99; listed in stock when checked Wireless convenience; Logitech advertises 20-plus hours of battery life and up to 15 m range

Prices and stock above are time-sensitive observations, not permanent pricing. The PRO X Wireless product page describes a different wireless product, not the wired headset reviewed here. At the observed prices, the wireless model costs only about $20 more than the full wired PRO X; choose it if freedom from a cable matters more than avoiding charging and battery aging. The PRO X Wired remains the simpler choice if you prefer a cable and no battery to manage.

For basic gaming audio at a lower spend, Logitech’s category page showed the ASTRO A10 Gen 2 at $44.99 on sale from $69.99 and the G432 at $39.99 on sale from $79.99. These are budget alternatives rather than like-for-like replacements for the PRO X accessory bundle and PC processing. Logitech also listed the G733 wireless at $159.99 and PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED at $229.99 on sale from $279.99; the latter is a newer, higher-priced wireless generation, not a direct substitute for the original wired model’s performance. See Logitech’s gaming headset category, ASTRO A10 Gen 2 and G733 product pages.

Specifications and one published discrepancy

Specification Published value
Type and design Wired, closed-back, circumaural headset
Drivers 50 mm hybrid-mesh PRO-G
Frequency response 20 Hz–20 kHz
Sensitivity 91.7 dB SPL at 1 mW and 1 cm
Impedance Logitech’s current product page lists 32 ohms; its support specification page lists 35 ohms
Microphone Detachable 6 mm cardioid/unidirectional electret condenser; 100 Hz–10 kHz response
Weight 320 g / 11.28 oz with boom, per Logitech support specifications
Cables PC cable: 2 m / 6.56 ft; mobile cable: 1.5 m / 4.92 ft; Y-splitter: 120 mm
Software and virtual surround Logitech G HUB; DTS Headphone:X 2.0 through USB DAC on PC
Ear pads Leatherette and additional velour pair

The impedance discrepancy is between Logitech’s current product page (32 ohms) and support specifications (35 ohms). Either way, the listed values are low impedance for ordinary headset use.

Who should buy it—and who should pass?

  • Buy or shortlist it if you primarily play on PC, want a detachable boom mic with software processing, value physical durability, prefer wired operation, and are willing to use G HUB. A meaningful discount makes the package easier to recommend.
  • Consider the PRO X SE if you want a cheaper wired PRO X-family headset and can accept its reduced accessory bundle.
  • Choose wireless instead if moving freely matters more than avoiding battery charging; compare the current price gap rather than assuming wireless costs much more.
  • Skip it if you play mainly on console and would be paying for PC-only EQ, DTS and BLUE VO!CE, need stronger isolation or a lighter fit, or want a great-sounding setup without software tuning.

Logitech lists a two-year limited hardware warranty in the product details surfaced for the U.S. product page; warranty terms can vary by region, so check the terms for your country before purchase.
