Nintendo Life reported 72 Mega Evolutions for the base game in its December 10, 2025 guide; that is not a confirmed count for the full game with DLC. The official DLC page names seven Mega-Evolved Pokémon, including two distinct Raichu forms.
How many Mega Pokémon are in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Nintendo Life’s December 10, 2025 guide reports 72 Mega Evolutions in the base game. That figure is a published base-game count, not a verified total for the game with Mega Dimension included. The DLC adds further Mega-Evolved forms.
A complete, verified post-DLC roster and current acquisition route for every Mega Stone are not established here. The lists below therefore distinguish the DLC forms officially named by Nintendo from examples on the official feature page; they are not a complete all-game roster.
Which Mega Pokémon are added in Mega Dimension?
Nintendo’s official Mega Dimension page names these seven Mega-Evolved Pokémon:

Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y are separate forms, each using a different Mega Stone. Nintendo’s Japanese DLC Pokémon page corroborates these newly discovered forms and also names Hoopa. The English DLC page’s named Mega-Evolved Pokémon list has seven entries; it does not establish a complete roster of every Pokémon appearing in the DLC.
What are examples of returning Mega Evolutions?
The Pokémon Company’s Mega Evolution feature page illustrates the mechanic with Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Ampharos, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Sableye, Mega Altaria, Mega Absol, and Mega Lucario. These are examples, not a complete Z-A roster.

How does Mega Evolution work?
A Trainer’s Key Stone resonates with a Mega Stone held by a Pokémon, enabling Mega Evolution. As the Pokémon temporarily releases hidden energy, its appearance changes and its type may change. The Pokémon Company describes the connection this way: “When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainer resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing Mega Evolution to take place.”
What should you know about Mega Stone rewards?
Not every Mega Stone is necessarily obtained through ordinary story progress. In a September 12, 2025 announcement, The Pokémon Company said Chesnaughtite, Delphoxite, and Greninjite were promotion rewards in Z-A Battle Club online Ranked Battles and could not normally be obtained during regular gameplay at that time. It also said redistribution in future seasons was planned. That announcement does not confirm which season currently offers these stones or whether they are available now.

Mega Dimension is additional story content intended for after the main story is complete. Nintendo’s store listing states that the full game is required to use the DLC. The post-game placement and prerequisite matter if you are looking for the DLC’s Mega forms rather than the base-game roster.
