What happened to the Tacticalboard?
Thrustmaster’s official brand history places the Tacticalboard’s arrival in stores in 2002. Historical retailer descriptions present it as a USB PC gaming peripheral with programmable controls and adjustable ergonomic zones.
Fnac listed the product as no longer for sale, while Best Buy stated that it was unavailable in new condition. Those listings establish that ordinary new retail stock is gone; they do not prove that every used unit has disappeared.
Why an exact replacement is difficult
The Tacticalboard combined a one-handed layout, programmable controls and adjustable hand-positioning features. A 2002 Hardware Upgrade review stated that it had 42 programmable keys, although historical descriptions count keys and functional areas differently. Treat that number as the review’s reported figure, not a universally agreed specification.

There is also a software risk. One owner reported losing Tacticalboard support after moving to 64-bit Windows 7. That is an individual compatibility report, not proof that every unit fails on every modern Windows installation, but it is a reason to test legacy hardware before relying on it for a current setup.
What category should you search?
Use these search terms:
- gaming keypad
- one-handed gaming keypad
- programmable gaming keypad
A 2010 replacement discussion mentioned the Belkin n52te, Logitech G13 and Saitek Cyborg as devices people might consider. Those names are historical suggestions only. Their present stock, software support, warranty coverage and performance were not established, so they should not be treated as current recommendations or drop-in Tacticalboard equivalents.

How to choose the closest modern substitute
1. Match the hand position
Prioritize an adjustable one-handed design if the Tacticalboard’s fit was the main reason you liked it. Check wrist support, the distance between the main keys and thumb controls, and whether the device can sit comfortably beside your mouse without forcing your arm inward.
2. Compare controls by function, not headline count
Count the controls you actually bind: movement, abilities, weapon selection, macros or push-to-talk. A lower-count keypad may work better if its key placement is familiar. Confirm that the included software supports the game bindings you need and can save profiles.

3. Check thumb controls
If you used the Tacticalboard’s thumb area for space, movement, modifiers or profile switching, choose a keypad with a usable thumb cluster rather than judging only the number of front-facing keys.
4. Verify operating-system and software support
Look for explicitly supported current operating systems, recent configuration software and onboard profile storage. If the keypad requires software for every function, verify that ordinary keyboard input still works when the utility is closed or unavailable.

5. Confirm the purchase conditions
Stock, warranty and return terms change by seller and region. Check them immediately before ordering, especially for discontinued or marketplace-listed hardware. A used Tacticalboard may be attractive for its familiar layout, but its USB connection, keys, adjustment mechanisms and configuration software should be tested within the seller’s return period.

Bottom line
There is no documented current, direct Tacticalboard replacement. Start with the gaming-keypad category, and favor an adjustable one-handed model with programmable controls and thumb input if ergonomics are your priority. Treat the Belkin n52te, Logitech G13 and Saitek Cyborg as historical comparison points—not confirmed modern buys—and verify present availability and compatibility before spending money.
