The Netac Shadow RGB kit covered in WePC’s hands-on review is a 16GB DDR4-3600 kit with 18-22-22-42 timings—not the separate Shadow RGB DDR5 product. In WePC’s comparison with a matching Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro kit, performance was effectively at parity. The Netac kit is worth considering if the exact DDR4 model is compatible, clearly supported by the seller, and meaningfully cheaper; its small benchmark leads do not make it a faster gaming choice.
Which Netac Shadow RGB kit is this?
Netac uses the Shadow RGB name for more than one memory product. The WePC hands-on review updated October 19, 2023, tested a 16GB DDR4 kit rated for 3600 MT/s, commonly marketed as “3600 MHz,” with timings of 18-22-22-42. Its results and design description apply to that DDR4 kit, not to every Shadow RGB module or revision. WePC’s review

Design and RGB lighting
WePC describes glossy black heat spreaders with layered geometric shapes and Netac’s horsehead logo. The RGB lighting gives the modules a distinctive look, but appearance is separate from memory performance.

The review reports compatibility with ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light Sync, and ASRock Polychrome Sync. Treat that as reported ecosystem support rather than a guarantee for every board: recognition and controls can depend on the motherboard, its firmware, the RGB software version, and the exact module revision.
DDR4 compatibility and setup
This kit requires a motherboard with DDR4 DIMM slots. DDR4 and DDR5 are different physical and electrical standards; they cannot be substituted for one another or mixed in the same motherboard. Confirm the motherboard and processor platform can support the kit’s rated profile, and check the cooler and DIMM layout for physical clearance.
- Install the modules in the motherboard manual’s recommended slots for a two-DIMM dual-channel configuration.
- Boot at the board’s default memory settings and confirm that the system detects the full capacity.
- Enable the rated XMP profile, or the motherboard’s equivalent memory-profile setting, if you want to attempt DDR4-3600. The kit may initially run at a lower default speed.
- Verify stability before relying on the system. If the profile fails, restore BIOS defaults, update the BIOS if the board vendor offers a relevant memory-compatibility update, and retry. If instability remains, lower the data rate or loosen timings.
Advertised speed is not assured on every CPU, motherboard, BIOS, or DIMM arrangement. Four populated slots usually put more strain on the memory controller than two, and mixing separate kits—even with matching labels—can lead to slower common settings or instability. If a system fails to boot or produces memory errors, test each module individually and then as a pair in the recommended slots; run a memory-stability test before treating the system as reliable. These are general PC-building precautions, not a claim that Netac modules are unusually prone to failure.

For RGB troubleshooting, first make sure the memory is detected and stable with lighting disabled. Then check board support, update firmware and the RGB utility, and remove conflicting RGB-control programs before testing again. These are general troubleshooting steps, not procedures verified specifically for this kit.

WePC compared the Netac kit with a Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro kit matched for capacity, speed, and timings. Its reported AIDA64 results are close enough to indicate practical parity, not a decisive advantage for either brand.
| AIDA64 result | Netac Shadow RGB | Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro | Reported difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Read | 49,756 MB/s | 49,690 MB/s | Netac +66 MB/s |
| Write | 28,687 MB/s | 28,713 MB/s | Corsair +26 MB/s |
| Copy | 45,012 MB/s | 44,987 MB/s | Netac +25 MB/s |
| Latency | 13.0 ns | 12.5 ns | Corsair −0.5 ns |
The small leads switch sides across the tests and are best treated as benchmark-level variation, not proof that Netac is faster. WePC reports Cyberpunk 2077 results of 42 versus 41 average FPS, matching 1% lows of 28 FPS, and 0.1% lows of 17 versus 15 FPS, respectively, for Netac and Corsair. A one-frame average difference and a single game’s low-percentile results do not establish a general gaming advantage. Gaming performance also depends on the CPU, GPU, resolution, settings, capacity, and whether the game is memory-limited. WePC’s benchmark results

The published results do not provide enough test-platform and repetition detail to reproduce the comparison confidently. The CPU, motherboard, BIOS version, GPU, operating-system version, memory profile, benchmark version, number of test runs, and background-task controls are not stated in the indexed material. That limits how far the small differences can be interpreted.
Do not confuse this DDR4 review with Shadow RGB DDR5
A separate product called Netac Shadow RGB DDR5 was reviewed as a 32GB DDR5-4800 dual-channel kit. TweakTown’s March 7, 2023 listing summarizes its testing unfavorably; it is a different kit and review from the DDR4-3600 product discussed above. TweakTown’s DDR5 review index
Separate coverage describes the DDR5 model as having a silver-plated heat-dissipation design, RGB customization, a 4800 default speed at 1.1V, on-die ECC, and 5600 and 6000 variants. Those specifications belong to the DDR5 coverage and should not be transferred to the reviewed DDR4 kit. iLounge’s Shadow RGB DDR5 review

DDR5-4800’s higher transfer rate does not make it a direct performance substitute for DDR4-3600. Generation, timings, platform support, memory-controller behavior, capacity, and workload all matter. Check the generation and exact model number on a listing before ordering.

The reviewed kit’s 16GB capacity may suit basic gaming and general use, but needs vary. Browser-heavy multitasking, streaming, editing, virtual machines, and large creative projects can benefit more from additional capacity than from a small frequency or timing difference. If a system needs 32GB or more, compare capacity first rather than paying a premium for RGB or marginal benchmark distinctions.
WePC lists a lifetime warranty against natural failure or fault. That is a claim attached to the reviewed product description, not a verified universal promise for every Shadow RGB model or region. Before purchase, confirm the current terms for the exact SKU, country, seller, proof-of-purchase requirements, and whether Netac or the retailer handles claims.
No dependable current U.S. price or stock position is established here, so a price threshold would be misleading. Use a relative rule: choose Netac only when the exact compatible kit is meaningfully cheaper than an equivalently specified, better-supported alternative, and the seller provides a clear return policy and accessible warranty support. If prices are similar, established options such as Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, Kingston Fury, or G.Skill may be preferable for buyers who prioritize retail reach, support, or a broader choice of kits. Verify each alternative’s generation, capacity, timings, and motherboard fit; the brand alone does not guarantee compatibility.
Quick Recap
- Consider the Netac DDR4 kit if you have a compatible DDR4 system, want its RGB design, and find the exact model at a clear discount with return and warranty terms you can use.
- Prefer another kit if the price is close, you value broad support and QVL coverage, or you need more than 16GB.
- For a new DDR5 build, choose a compatible DDR5 kit rather than this DDR4 product, and evaluate the separate Netac DDR5 model on its own evidence.
