Short answer: you cannot enable AMD Link in current AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition releases. AMD ended support for the AMD Link application, and newer driver development removed the feature. The setup steps below are archival instructions for an older, compatible installation—not a recommendation to downgrade a working system.
AMD’s end-of-life notice is at AMD’s AMD Link support notice. Adrenalin 24.1.1 release notes also identify AMD Link as discontinued: 24.1.1 release notes.
What AMD Link used to do
AMD Link connected a Radeon gaming PC to another device for local remote play, game launching and remote control. Historical clients included Android and Windows devices, with iOS and tvOS support discussed in older release documentation. AMD Link Play was designed for local multiplayer; Adrenalin 22.3.1 described support for up to four connected users and made a standalone Windows client available for non-AMD PCs (AMD’s 22.3.1 notes).
Compatibility was release-specific. A later release described improved connectivity for Radeon RX 400-series and newer products, but that does not establish compatibility with today’s drivers or every device (AMD’s 23.2.1 notes).

- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
This was local streaming from your own PC, not a cloud-gaming service: the host rendered the game and sent its video and audio to a client on the same network.
When AMD Link support ended
| Document | What it says | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| AMD end-of-life notice | AMD announced that it was ending support for the AMD Link application. | The application is discontinued, not merely hidden in the interface. |
| Adrenalin 23.12.1 notes | Future driver releases would stop supporting AMD Link starting in January 2024. | This is the historical transition notice. |
| Adrenalin 24.1.1 notes | AMD Link support was discontinued. | Current Adrenalin users should not expect an AMD Link menu or server. |
AMD’s current software help center may still contain an “AMD Link FAQ” listing, but that listing does not mean current drivers support the feature: AMD Software help center.
Can you still use AMD Link?
Current Adrenalin installations
No. If you are running a current Adrenalin build and AMD Link is missing, treat that as the expected result rather than an installation fault. Do not download random APKs, modified installers or unofficial driver packages.
Existing legacy installations
An older, compatible host driver and client may continue to function, but AMD no longer maintains or guarantees them. A legacy setup is reasonable only for an archival PC or a system you deliberately isolate for testing. Create a restore point or use a separate installation, and obtain software only from trustworthy official archives.

Requirements for legacy installations
- A Windows host with a Radeon GPU and an older Adrenalin release that still included AMD Link.
- AMD Software installed with its normal interface and features. Current installers distinguish Default, Minimal and Driver Only; Driver Only has no AMD Software interface, while Minimal omits advanced features (AMD installation guide).
- AMD Link Server enabled on the host.
- An authentic, compatible AMD Link client on the receiving device.
- Both devices reachable on the same local network.
- A controller or other supported input method for the client.
- Firewall and security software configured to permit the connection.
Do not turn the current Adrenalin operating-system requirements into AMD Link requirements. AMD says feature availability varies by product and software version; the installation guide’s Windows 10 and Windows 11 support describes current Adrenalin, not the discontinued service.
Archived setup path
The following workflow reflects the old interface. The QR/PIN pairing sequence was documented in an AMD Community support reply rather than a currently maintained official how-to guide (AMD Community: AMD Link not working).
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition on the host PC.
- Open Settings with the gear icon.
- Find the AMD Link section.
- Enable AMD Link Server.
- Choose the option to display the pairing QR code/PIN.
- Install and open the compatible AMD Link client on the receiving device.
- Choose the client command to add or pair with a PC.
- Scan the QR code or enter the PIN shown by Adrenalin.
- Accept the pairing request on the host if prompted.
- Select a game or streaming function in the client.
- Connect a controller and test a short session before launching a demanding game.
What a successful legacy connection looked like
- The host PC appeared in the client.
- The client could browse or launch available games or streaming functions.
- The host’s game output appeared on the receiving screen.
- Controller or touch input travelled back to the host.
- The session behaved as local remote play, with quality determined by the PC and home network.
No universal resolution, frame-rate, latency, codec or controller limit applies across all historical releases and hardware.
Troubleshooting an old installation
The AMD Link option is missing
- Confirm the installed Adrenalin version. On a current build, the missing menu is expected because support ended.
- Check whether the old installation used Driver Only or Minimal mode.
- Check the exact GPU and driver branch against that release’s documentation.
- Do not downgrade a production system solely to restore discontinued software.
The client cannot find the PC
- Put both devices on the same local network.
- Avoid guest Wi-Fi, client isolation, segmented networks and VPN routing.
- Check Windows Firewall and third-party security software.
- Restart AMD Link Server and the client.
- Display a new QR code/PIN and pair again.
- For diagnosis only, adjust firewall protection temporarily, then restore it.
Pairing fails
- Delete the old host entry from the client.
- Generate a new QR code/PIN.
- Pair while both devices are on the same network.
- Verify that the client is authentic and compatible with the host release.
- Do not assume a current store client will work with an old host driver.
The stream has no audio
One AMD Community report said changing the computer’s playback output to the monitor and restarting the AMD Link stream helped that user. It is an anecdotal workaround, not a universal AMD requirement (community report).

The picture stutters or input feels slow
- Use wired Ethernet for the host where possible.
- Use a strong 5-GHz-or-newer Wi-Fi connection for the client.
- Lower stream resolution or frame rate.
- Stop competing downloads and video streams.
- Disable VPN routing while diagnosing.
- Check whether the host GPU is already heavily occupied by encoding or the game.
- Try a simpler game to separate network problems from game-specific performance.
The app disappeared from an app store
That is consistent with AMD’s end-of-life decision. Avoid unofficial mirrors and sideloaded packages unless you can independently establish their authenticity and security.
Why downgrading is usually a poor fix
Running an old driver to recover AMD Link trades a discontinued convenience for unsupported software, possible security exposure, driver instability and compatibility problems with newer games or hardware. If you need dependable remote play, use a maintained alternative instead of making a modern gaming PC depend on a legacy driver.

If you are on a current Adrenalin release, there is no supported AMD Link feature to repair. If an old host and client still pair, keep expectations modest and treat the setup as unsupported. For a maintained solution, migrate to a current remote-play product rather than spending more time searching for a missing AMD Link menu.

Was AMD Link free?
AMD Link was distributed as a software feature and client application rather than a paid subscription, but its discontinuation means current availability should not be assumed.
Can I download the old mobile app?
Do not rely on unofficial APKs or modified packages. Store availability and compatibility are not guaranteed after AMD ended support.
Does AMD Link work outside my home network?
It was intended primarily for local-network remote play. Internet-based use would add router, firewall, latency and security issues and is not a supported current AMD workflow.
The Bottom Line
AMD Link is a discontinued legacy feature, not something you can enable in current AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. Use the archival pairing steps only with an existing compatible installation; otherwise, choose a maintained remote-play solution.
