An error occurred while logging into Studio. Please login on the website or try again later.” is a generic authentication-handoff failure. It does not prove that your password is wrong. Studio may be unable to complete browser authentication because of a Roblox incident, blocked CAPTCHA or cookies, an incorrect clock, proxy or VPN routing, firewall filtering, damaged local files, or a Roblox-side bug.
Use the checks below in order. Start with service status and website login, then test the browser handoff, network and security settings, and only afterward reinstall Studio. These instructions were checked against Roblox guidance on August 18, 2026; button names can differ between Studio builds.
Fastest diagnostic sequence
- Check the official Roblox status page for login, authentication, website, or Studio incidents.
- Sign in to Roblox.com in a current supported browser.
- In Studio, choose Login via Browser (or the equivalent browser-login option), complete the browser prompt, and return to Studio.
- If the handoff fails, test a private browser window, clear Roblox site data, and temporarily disable extensions that block scripts, cookies, tracking, or CAPTCHA.
- Correct the computer clock, inspect proxy settings, and test VPN-off and alternate-network connections.
- Check antivirus and firewall allowlists.
- Reinstall Studio only after those tests.
- If it still fails, collect logs and contact Roblox Support with the results of each test.
1. Check whether Roblox is having an incident
Open the Roblox status page before changing files or reinstalling. Look for incidents affecting login, authentication, website services, or Studio. If an incident is active, wait for Roblox to recover and retry later; repeated reinstalls cannot repair a server-side outage.
A wider Roblox problem becomes more likely when Roblox.com and Studio fail for several users or when the same account fails on different devices and networks. Do not state that Roblox is down unless the status page or a Roblox announcement confirms it.

2. Separate website login from Studio login
If Roblox.com also rejects the login
- Verify the username, email, and password. If the account itself is inaccessible, use Roblox’s password-recovery process.
- Try a current, updated browser and a private/incognito window.
- If CAPTCHA does not load or loops, allow Roblox’s CAPTCHA services
.arkoselabs.comand.funcaptcha.com. Roblox documents these domains in Issues Logging In or Out in a Browser. - Check the system date, time, and time zone; a materially wrong clock can invalidate authentication.
If Roblox.com accepts the login
- Leave that successful Roblox.com session open.
- Return to Studio and select Login via Browser or the matching browser-login command.
- Complete the browser authentication prompt.
- Return to Studio and wait for the handoff to finish.
- If it fails, sign out of Roblox.com, close both Studio and the browser, reopen the browser, sign in again, and retry once.
Website authentication and Studio authentication are separate stages. A successful website login does not guarantee that Studio can receive the browser handoff.
3. Repair the browser handoff
Roblox’s general website troubleshooting recommends clearing temporary files and cookies and testing extensions. Use the least disruptive sequence:
- Try a fully updated supported browser.
- Open a private/incognito window and repeat the browser login. If this works, an extension or stored site data is a likely cause.
- Temporarily disable ad blockers, script blockers, anti-tracking tools, and strict cookie controls, one at a time.
- Delete Roblox-specific cookies and cached site data rather than wiping every website’s data. This signs you out of Roblox and may sign you out of other Roblox-related pages.
- Restart the browser and Studio, then retry.
Repeated CAPTCHA verification followed by the same Studio error has also been reported by users, including reports dated August 2 and August 3, 2026. Those reports show that browser handoff failures can persist, but they do not establish a universal outage or fix.
4. Correct the clock and proxy configuration
Date, time, and time zone
- Enable automatic date and time in the operating system.
- Choose the correct time zone.
- Use the operating system’s synchronization option.
- Restart Studio after the clock is corrected.
Roblox identifies an inaccurate computer clock as a possible cause of browser and Studio login problems in its browser-login guidance and Studio troubleshooting guidance.

Windows proxy settings
- Open Windows Settings and search for Proxy settings.
- Turn off an unfamiliar manual proxy or setup script.
- On a school- or employer-managed computer, do not change policy-controlled settings without the administrator’s approval.
Roblox’s Studio guidance specifically calls for checking that Use Setup Script and Use a Proxy Server are disabled where appropriate. macOS and managed Windows devices expose these controls differently, so use the current operating-system labels.
5. Test VPN, DNS, and another network
VPN and DNS
Test with a VPN disconnected, then compare the result on another legitimate connection. A VPN can interfere with CAPTCHA, IP reputation, redirects, or latency; however, community reports describe cases where a VPN or DNS change temporarily allowed Studio login. These are anecdotal routing workarounds, not official Roblox fixes, and they should not be used to evade account restrictions, rate limits, or school/work policies.
Do not change DNS as the first step or assume a particular public DNS service is required. Community reports have associated DNS changes with improvement, but the evidence does not establish a universal DNS requirement.
Use a phone hotspot or other trusted network
- Connect the computer temporarily to a phone hotspot or another trusted Wi-Fi network.
- Retry Roblox.com login and the Studio browser handoff.
- If it works, investigate the original router, DNS, proxy, ISP, firewall, or school/work filtering.
- If it fails on both networks, local authentication state, the account, Studio installation, or a Roblox-side issue is more likely.

6. Check antivirus and firewall rules
- Open the security product’s blocked, quarantined, or controlled-applications list.
- Allow Roblox and Roblox Studio to communicate through the firewall.
- Update the antivirus or firewall software.
- If appropriate, pause protection only long enough to perform one test, then immediately re-enable it.
- Prefer a narrow allowlist rule over permanently disabling protection.
Roblox warns that firewall and antivirus software can block communication with its servers; see Firewall and Router Issues. On a school, library, or enterprise network, an administrator may need to allow Roblox authentication domains. Roblox’s education guidance lists services including www.roblox.com, api.roblox.com, clientsettings.api.roblox.com, versioncompatibility.api.roblox.com, setup.roblox.com, setup.rbxcdn.com, cdn.arkoselabs.com, roblox-api.arkoselabs.com, js.rbxcdn.com, static.rbxcdn.com, and captcha.roblox.com. The same documentation identifies UDP ports 49152–65535. Ordinary home users should not add broad port-forwarding rules; give this information to the network administrator instead.
7. Reinstall Studio only after the tests above
Reinstallation is appropriate when files are damaged, an update failed, or the problem occurs only on one computer. It is not a guaranteed fix: community reports describe reinstalling without changing this specific error.
- Close Studio and all Roblox processes.
- Restart the computer.
- If a normal reinstall failed, uninstall Roblox/Studio.
- Restart again.
- Clear browser temporary files and Roblox site data.
- Download Studio again from the official Roblox creator site.
- Install with other programs closed.
- Retry browser-based login.
This sequence follows Roblox’s reinstallation guidance, which also advises restarting, closing other programs, clearing temporary internet files, and checking firewall settings.
8. macOS-specific checks
Roblox’s Mac troubleshooting page, checked August 18, 2026, states that Roblox and Studio install on macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later and support Apple Silicon/M1. Compatibility requirements can change, so consult that page for the current requirement.

Use the same browser, clock, network, and security tests on Mac. If you reinstall, close Studio, remove the existing installation, restart, download a fresh installer, and retry the browser handoff. Mac Studio logs are stored at:
~/Library/Logs/Roblox/9. Stop repeating fixes: collect logs and contact Roblox
If the error survives a second network, browser cleanup, security checks, and a clean reinstall, collect evidence instead of clicking Try Again indefinitely. Roblox says Studio log filenames generally contain “Studio” and asks that logs be sent only when requested by a Roblox employee. Locations are:
- Windows:

When contacting Roblox through its Studio support process, include:
- Roblox username and the exact error text.
- Device model, operating-system version, and Studio version if visible.
- Whether Roblox.com login succeeds.
- Whether private-browser login or Login via Browser succeeds.
- Whether another network changes the result.
- Whether VPN, proxy, browser-extension, or firewall changes affect it.
- Exact reproduction steps, approximate date and time of failed attempts, affected project links, and recent changes.
- Relevant Studio logs only when support requests them.

Common traps
- Assuming it is a password error: Studio can fail after Roblox.com authentication succeeds.
- Reinstalling first: This does not address browser, clock, proxy, firewall, network, or outage causes.
- Clicking Try Again repeatedly: Change one condition at a time so each retry provides information.
- Disabling protection permanently: Test briefly, then restore protection and use an allowlist.
- Treating alternate-account reports as proof: Multiple-account use has been mentioned in community reports, but it is not a confirmed universal cause.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Roblox.com work while Studio does not?
The website session may succeed while Studio fails to receive the browser authentication handoff. Test cookies, extensions, CAPTCHA controls, proxy settings, clock accuracy, and firewall rules.
Will reinstalling Studio delete my games?
Reinstalling the application does not by itself delete cloud-published experiences. Back up any local files and follow Roblox’s official reinstall instructions.
Should I change DNS or install a VPN?
No as a first step. Community reports describe occasional improvements, but neither is an official guaranteed fix; test another network and compare VPN states instead.
Why does browser login keep looping?
Blocked CAPTCHA domains, privacy extensions, strict cookies, inaccurate time, or network filtering can interrupt verification. Allow .arkoselabs.com and .funcaptcha.com and test a private window.
