The native console edition has no mod browser, mod loader, or supported way to add PC-style scripts, trainers, graphics overhauls, custom vehicles, or FiveM. On PS5, use Rockstar’s built-in Creator and other supported custom-content tools; for downloadable mods or FiveM roleplay, you need the PC version.
Can you install GTA 5 mods on PS5?
No—not traditional downloadable modifications. PC tutorials that use file replacements, Script Hook-style loaders, trainers, custom maps, shaders, or replacement vehicles do not provide a supported PS5 installation path.

PlayStation’s GTA V support page documents the native PS5 release, one-player play and optional online play. PlayStation Plus is required for GTA Online multiplayer, subject to Sony’s current plan and entitlement rules.
Why PC mods do not work on PS5
Console software is controlled
PC players can access an installation folder and place scripts or replacement assets where a game’s loader can find them. PS5 games run in a controlled environment and GTA V for PS5 does not provide a supported mod directory or mod-loading interface.

A USB drive is not a mod installer
A USB device can transfer ordinary supported media and data, but copying a downloaded file to it does not make GTA V load that file. A mod downloaded on a phone or computer cannot simply be activated by plugging the drive into a normal PS5.
Jailbreak claims are not an ordinary solution
Modified-console and exploit methods circumvent platform security, fall outside the normal support path and can expose you to account, security and stability problems. They are not an official way to mod the PS5 edition, so this article does not provide bypass instructions.
Can you use FiveM on PS5?
No. FiveM’s official platform-support FAQ says its client does not run on PlayStation or Xbox and that there are no plans for console support. Rockstar’s acquisition of Cfx.re and its roleplay-community update did not turn FiveM into a PlayStation application.

What you can use on PS5 instead
Creator jobs and community activities
Use GTA Online’s supported Creator tools to make or play races, deathmatches, stunt activities, playlists and other jobs. Community-created jobs are delivered through the game’s own menus, so they do not alter your installed files.
Director Mode and Rockstar Editor
Where these features are available in the current PS5 build, they can help you stage cinematic scenes, control characters and record footage without downloading external scripts or assets. Feature names and availability can change with updates.

Official updates and customization
Rockstar-published updates, in-game vehicle customization, outfits, playlists and other supported systems are legitimate content. A custom race, playlist, outfit or vehicle upgrade is not the same as installing a mod file.

Are GTA 5 mod menus or “USB mods” safe on PS5?
No. PlayStation and Rockstar documentation does not support claims that a normal PS5 can install a GTA 5 mod menu from a USB drive. Offers promising guaranteed GTA$, unlocks, rank boosts or permanent online access are strong scam indicators; downloads may deliver malware or phishing pages, and sellers may seek your credentials or remote access.

Rockstar’s terms prohibit unauthorized mods, cheats, mod menus, hacks, glitches and technical exploits: Rockstar legal terms. Rockstar also says online modding, promoting exploits, manipulating protected data, interfering with players, money lobbies and account-boosting or recovery services can lead to suspension or bans (see online-mod and account-impact guidance and money-lobby guidance).

- Never provide your PlayStation Network or Rockstar password, backup codes, payment details or remote access.
- Do not join a lobby advertising modded money, unlocks, rank boosts or account recovery.
- If you encounter a suspected modder, leave the session and use the game’s supported reporting tools.
Can you mod GTA 5 on PC instead?
PC is the appropriate platform for traditional single-player mods and FiveM. It is a separate copy and ecosystem, not a way to add mods to your PS5 installation. A PC capable of running heavily modified GTA V may cost more than expected, and mods can conflict with updates or require troubleshooting.
Rockstar’s published single-player mod statement concerns qualifying, non-commercial projects for Rockstar PC games. It excludes multiplayer and online-impacting tools, other intellectual property and projects that create new games, stories, missions or maps; Rockstar can change or withdraw the statement. It is not permission to mod the PS5 version, and modified files should be kept separate from GTA Online.
What to do if you downloaded a supposed PS5 mod
- Do not open or run the file on a computer, phone or console.
- Delete it and empty the recycle or trash folder.
- If you entered credentials, immediately change both your PlayStation Network and Rockstar passwords.
- Enable two-factor authentication on both accounts.
- Review recent sign-ins, linked accounts and payment activity.
- Contact PlayStation Support or Rockstar Support if the account was accessed or compromised.
- Scan the computer or phone used to download the file, and do not use it on a jailbroken or modified console.
Common claims, checked
“I saw someone using mods on PS5.”
The footage may be from PC, may show Creator or Director Mode, may involve a glitch or unauthorized tool, may come from an older modified-console setup, or may be edited or promoting a fake download. A video is not proof of official compatibility.

“Can I transfer a PC mod with USB?”
No supported route exists. File transfer is not the same as having a game that can load the file.
“Will Rockstar ban me for a single-player mod?”
On PS5, traditional single-player mods are unsupported in the first place. The published non-enforcement statement applies to qualifying PC projects and does not cover GTA Online or the PS5 edition.
“What if the mod is cosmetic?”
Cosmetic does not automatically mean permitted. Modifying files, using unauthorized tools, affecting GTA Online or impacting other players can still violate the rules.
Bottom line
PS5 supports GTA V’s built-in Creator, community and cinematic features—not downloadable PC-style mods. FiveM, script mods, graphics overhauls and mod menus require unsupported or unauthorized methods on PlayStation. If you specifically want those experiences, use GTA V on a compatible PC, keep single-player modifications separate from GTA Online, and treat any PS5 USB-mod offer as a security and account-risk warning.
