The OneXFly Apex is a real, shipping Windows handheld PC—not merely a September 2025 concept. Its headline configuration pairs AMD’s 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and Radeon 8060S integrated graphics with an 8-inch 1,920×1,200 120Hz VRR screen, an 85Wh removable battery and up to 128GB of shared LPDDR5X memory. It is best understood as a premium, high-power portable computer for enthusiasts, creators and AI users, not as a cheaper Steam Deck-style console.
Availability and specifications vary by region and seller. Confirm the exact processor, memory, storage, cooling bundle, warranty and stock status before ordering.
What is the OneXFly Apex?
One-Netbook’s ONEXPLAYER brand revealed the Apex on September 26, 2025. Campaign-era listings followed in November, a Japanese retail announcement arrived in March 2026, and the product is now orderable through regional channels. The global store currently shows an Apex family that can include Ryzen AI Max+ 388 variants, so older articles describing only a 395/128GB model are not a complete description of current inventory.
The Japanese launch page lists a March 2026 domestic release, while the global ONEXPLAYER store is the appropriate place to check current international SKUs and pricing. “Available globally” should not be read as universal in-stock delivery or identical warranty coverage.

Why the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is unusual in a handheld
The 395 combines 16 Zen 5 CPU cores, Radeon 8060S graphics and an XDNA-based NPU. One-Netbook cites 50 TOPS for the NPU; AMD describes the broader Ryzen AI Max+ family in its CES 2026 presentation. The CPU is exceptionally large for a handheld and suits compiling, rendering, emulation and heavy multitasking. The integrated GPU is substantially more capable than graphics in mainstream 15–30W handhelds, but game performance still depends on power mode, cooling, drivers, memory allocation and settings.
The NPU only helps software that supports the relevant acceleration APIs; its TOPS rating is not an application benchmark. Likewise, “desktop-class” or “RTX 4060-level” language should be treated as promotional or workload-dependent rather than a universal gaming result.

What “up to 128GB RAM” really means
Apex memory is unified: the Radeon 8060S can use system LPDDR5X rather than relying on separate graphics VRAM. That gives an APU-based handheld unusually high capacity for large textures, local AI models, emulation, creator applications and simultaneous workloads. The official product material describes allocating system memory to graphics memory, and third-party coverage confirms the unified design (OneXPlayer product page; Notebookcheck).
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- It is not 128GB of dedicated VRAM.
- CPU and GPU share bandwidth and power, so capacity alone does not raise frame rates proportionally.
- For ordinary 1080p-class gaming, paying a major premium for 128GB may provide little benefit.
- The capacity is more compelling for AI, development, workstation software, demanding emulation and extensive multitasking.
Display: 8-inch, 1,920×1,200 and 120Hz VRR
The native-landscape IPS panel adds vertical pixels over 1,920×1,080 and supports refresh rates up to 120Hz with variable refresh. VRR helps hide tearing and judder when frame rates fluctuate; 120Hz leaves headroom for lighter games and desktop work, although demanding releases will often run below 120fps. Rendering at 1,920×1,200 also costs more than 1080p.
IPS avoids OLED burn-in concerns and can be practical for a Windows PC, but it cannot match OLED contrast and black levels. Notebookcheck reports manufacturer figures of 500 nits and 100% sRGB; treat those as stated specifications rather than independent measurements.

Air cooling versus Frost Bay liquid cooling
The standard Apex is described around an 80W operating envelope. The optional external Frost Bay system is marketed for up to 120W and is intended to sustain performance during prolonged CPU/GPU loads. It is closer to connecting a handheld PC to a desktop-style cooling module than to carrying a self-contained “water-cooled console.”
- Where it helps: long gaming sessions, rendering, local AI and other workloads where sustained clocks matter more than short bursts.
- What it costs: extra money, tubing/cabling, more setup, additional noise and reduced portability.
- Power trade-off: higher wattage increases heat and battery drain; 120W is not the normal battery behavior of every model.
- Best match: docked or desk-based use. Commuters usually benefit more from the simpler air-cooled unit.
Price and availability
Prices cannot be reduced to one global figure because campaigns, regions, memory, storage and cooling bundles differ.
| Pricing reference | Reported figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Japan domestic launch | ¥349,800 tax-included | Ryzen AI Max+ 395, 48GB, 1TB model |
| Japan water-cooling-compatible version | ¥359,800 | Regional launch pricing |
| Frost Bay in Japan | ¥29,800 separately; ¥25,000 launch bundle price | Accessory pricing, Japan-specific |
| Earlier campaign coverage | About $1,399 starting; about $2,299 for a high-end 395/128GB/2TB liquid-cooling configuration | Historical campaign-era figures, not a current universal price |
The safest current buying practice is to open the global store listing and record the displayed currency, exact CPU, RAM, SSD, cooler inclusion, shipping status and warranty. A listing may say “Apex” while referring to a 388 model or to a preorder rather than immediate stock.

How it compares with alternatives
GPD Win 5
The GPD Win 5 and GPD Store listing are the closest Strix Halo comparison. Compare exact memory, display, battery, sustained power, ergonomics, warranty and price rather than assuming the same performance from the processor family.
Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2
Lenovo’s Legion Go Gen 2 suits buyers who value a mainstream retail and warranty path and a less extreme price/performance proposition. Do not call it a performance equivalent without testing the exact CPU and power mode.
ASUS ROG Ally family
The ASUS ROG Ally catalog offers broader mainstream support and generally lower system cost, but less CPU/GPU headroom than the Max+ 395 class. Select a specific model; the Ally family now includes multiple systems.
Steam Deck OLED
Steam Deck OLED remains a more console-oriented, lower-cost platform with a mature interface, but it is not a performance peer to a 395-powered Apex. Check Valve’s store for current regional pricing and availability.
Bottom line
The OneXFly Apex is compelling when maximum APU performance, an 8-inch 120Hz VRR display and unusually large unified memory matter more than price, simplicity and battery endurance. Its 128GB headline does not equal dedicated VRAM, and Frost Bay’s 120W mode is an external, desk-friendly option rather than a portable default. For mainstream handheld gaming, a lighter and cheaper system is usually the more sensible choice; for a portable workstation-class Windows PC, the Apex is one of the most ambitious options available.
