The Prehistoric Update is no longer an active way to obtain new Dinosaur Eggs. The limited-time event has ended, so the Scientist quests and DNA Machine (also called the Pet Mutator) should not be treated as currently available acquisition routes. If you already own Dinosaur Eggs, prehistoric pets, or event items, you may still be able to use them according to the live game’s rules.
What the Prehistoric Update was
The Prehistoric Update was a limited-time Grow a Garden event built around dinosaurs, ancient plants and crop mutations. Its core loop combined normal crop growing with Scientist quests, pet exchanges, Dinosaur Egg hatching and mutation-focused dinosaur abilities.
The event’s progression was centered on completing Prehistoric objectives, turning expendable pets into Dinosaur Eggs, hatching those eggs and using the resulting pets or crafted sprays to improve valuable harvests. Completing the Scientist quest line also awarded event rewards, including the Bone Blossom seed.
Is the Prehistoric event still available?
No new Dinosaur Eggs should be promised through the original event systems. Later coverage reports that the Prehistoric quests and DNA Machine were no longer available for obtaining eggs, while the game had moved on to the Zen Update by July 21, 2025.

How the DNA Machine (Pet Mutator) worked
The DNA Machine was the event’s pet-conversion system. It accepted eligible existing pets—typically unnecessary duplicates or pets you could spare—and processed them for a timed wait before producing a Dinosaur Egg. It was not a way to select a particular dinosaur directly.
Historical exchange steps
- Keep the pets needed for your regular garden and identify genuine duplicates or expendable pets.
- Open the Scientist’s event system, labeled DNA Machine or Pet Mutator in coverage of version 1.13.0.
- Submit an eligible pet and start the processing timer.
- Wait for processing to finish, then collect the Dinosaur Egg.
- Incubate and hatch the egg to receive a dinosaur pet.
The original event did not establish a universally published, complete official drop table. Treat detailed odds from third-party guides as guide-reported rather than guaranteed developer rates.

Scientist quests and event rewards
Scientist objectives were the main progression route. They provided the event’s tasks and rewards while directing you toward the exchange-and-hatch loop.
Best historical priority
- Begin the Prehistoric quests as soon as they become available.
- Finish Scientist objectives before sacrificing pets that may still be useful in your normal garden.
- Claim event rewards, including the Bone Blossom seed, before using rare resources on cosmetic or duplicate outcomes.
Quest completion and the DNA Machine served different purposes: quests supplied progression and rewards, while the machine converted spare pets into egg attempts.

What could hatch from a Dinosaur Egg?
The Dinosaur Egg was the signature event reward and contained the prehistoric pet collection. One researched egg database lists six dinosaur pets associated with it; that count should be read as a database’s roster, not as a guarantee that every version of the event used identical contents.
Contemporary coverage specifically highlighted dinosaur-themed seeds and pets such as the T-Rex and Brontosaurus, alongside abilities designed to influence crop mutations. Because a complete official probability table was not available, avoid ranking every dinosaur by supposed drop chance.

How to plan your egg hatches
- Track which dinosaur abilities you already have before spending another spare pet.
- Expect a random hatch outcome rather than a selectable species.
- Do not sacrifice core utility pets merely to chase an unconfirmed probability.
- Save mutation-focused attempts for high-value crops once your basic garden setup is secure.
How to get Amber Mutation
Amber Mutation had two documented historical routes: craft Mutation Spray Amber at the event crafting station, or hatch a Raptor from a Dinosaur Egg and let its ability affect crops.
Mutation Spray Amber
The spray was the more controlled route because crafting let you target the mutation directly once you had the required event materials and access to the crafting station. Use it on a harvest where the resulting multiplier justifies spending the materials, rather than on a low-value crop.

Raptor ability
PC Gamer’s guide reported a 25% Raptor hatch chance from a Dinosaur Egg and a 2.5% chance for the Raptor effect to apply Amber to a harvested fruit. The same guide reported a 10× crop multiplier. These are secondary-guide figures, not a cited developer drop table, so they should not be treated as officially confirmed rates.
In practical terms, the Raptor route was random and potentially resource-intensive: secure the desired pet first, then aim its effect at high-value harvests. The spray route offered more outcome control but depended on having the necessary crafting materials.

Recommended historical progression
- Start the Scientist quests: complete the event objectives that unlock rewards and guide your progression.
- Protect your useful pets: reserve your normal garden’s key pets and submit only true duplicates or expendable ones.
- Run the DNA Machine: process eligible pets and wait for the Dinosaur Egg.
- Hatch and track results: record the dinosaur abilities you still need instead of assuming a particular hatch is guaranteed.
- Target Amber: use Mutation Spray Amber for control, or pursue a Raptor if you accept random hatch and effect chances.
- Claim seeds and rewards: secure Bone Blossom and other quest rewards before spending scarce resources on duplicates or cosmetics.
What returning players should do now
If you logged in with legacy prehistoric items, first check whether the current interface still exposes their hatch, mutation or pet-ability actions. Do not discard an old Dinosaur Egg or Raptor simply because the original event ended; the item may remain functional even though new acquisition is closed.

- Sacrificing essential pets: the machine was intended for eligible pets you could spare, not your entire active collection.
- Treating guide odds as official: reported Raptor and Amber percentages were not accompanied by a published developer table.
- Assuming event rewards remain claimable: Bone Blossom and quest rewards belonged to the limited-time progression.
- Expecting a guaranteed dinosaur: Dinosaur Egg hatches were a collection system, not a species-selection menu.
- Confusing legacy ownership with event access: keeping an old pet does not mean new eggs can still be manufactured.
