The main collectible chain is the Journalist Stash quest, Seek and You Shall Find. After A Needle in a Haystack, hand the Ward Sensors to Richter or Captain Zotov, take the Journalist’s Flash Drive from your personal stash, and listen to its message. The stash locations then appear on the world map. The documented route covers 12 stashes from the Lesser Zone to Duga; a later Prypiat stash is confirmed, but its exact route and reward are not established in the available guide material.
How stash hunting works in STALKER 2
The PDA map is your main tracking tool. GSC’s November 13, 2024 PDA documentation says it displays the Zone, explored regions, locations, quest markers, caches and other important markers. Ordinary caches can therefore be found by checking the PDA as you explore. Journalist Stashes are different: their markers are added when you complete the flash-drive step of Seek and You Shall Find.

The Journalist chain is optional, but its rewards are distinctive versions of equipment that would otherwise appear as enemy loot or vendor stock. GameSpot notes that weapons normally include their ammunition and may have preset or pre-built attachments.
Preparation before visiting the stashes
- Leave enough stamina for roof, vehicle and fence climbs; several containers are reached through improvised platforming rather than a normal doorway.
- Keep your inventory below maximum carry weight so you can collect heavy weapons and suits.
- Bring ammunition and healing items for locations with named hostile encounters, especially Rostok and Duga.
- Check the PDA after unlocking the quest so you can plan a route instead of searching each region blindly.
Journalist Stash locations and rewards
The table follows the documented Journalist sequence. “Guide order” is the order used by the location guide, not a claim that every stop must be visited in a fixed gameplay order.

The Prypiat stash: what is confirmed
The Journalist sequence continues to a final stash at an iconic Prypiat location. The available material confirms that it is obtained later, but does not provide an authoritative, opened account of the exact route or reward list. Treat any more specific Prypiat directions or item claims as unverified until a current guide documents them.
Reward details and equipment expectations
Monolith weapons and other firearms
The PTM Monolith, Viper Monolith, AR416 Monolith, M860 Monolith, Riemann, Model Competitor, Veteran, Lullaby and SA-U Gabon are weapon rewards from the route above. GameSpot describes Journalist rewards generally as modified versions of existing gear; some can arrive with preset or pre-built attachments. Weapon containers also include their ammunition.

Suits and utility
The route supplies the Mercenary’s Light Suit, Tourist Suit, Wanderer Suit, SSP-100M SIRCAA suit and SEVA-I Suit. The documented utility bonus among these rewards is the Wanderer Suit’s +8 kg maximum carry weight.
Hazards that can stop a run
- Rostok school: gravity anomalies can throw off jumps and positioning, while the Poltergeist adds a direct combat threat.
- Duga armory: snipers and a Burer guard the approach. The locker remains unavailable until the generator and control-room switch sequence is completed.
- Roof, wreck and fence routes: Zalissya, the Lesser Zone factory, Garbage, and the Swamps require deliberate climbing. Arriving overloaded or exhausted can leave you unable to finish a jump.
Patch notes and changing map markers
Official Patch 1.5 notes say the player-stash window was increased and that some stash locations and markers in Rostok and Yaniv were updated. The same notes record crashes and performance drops. If a marker does not match an older walkthrough, check the current PDA position after updating the game and verify that the Journalist message was heard; major patches can change marker presentation.
