Green: ASSOCIATED WITH FREUD

Dreams, the id, Oedipus and a slip point to Freudian ideas: dreams and the id are central concepts, the Oedipus complex is a well-known Freudian term, and a “Freudian slip” is a familiar expression.

Blue: WORDS AFTER “T-”

Adding “T-” produces T-Mobile, T-Pain, T. rex and T-shirt.

Purple: STARTING WITH HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE ABBREVIATIONS

The openings suggest shortened class-year names: fresh in freshwater (freshman), jun in juniper (junior), sen in Seneca (senior), and soph in Sophocles (sophomore). The grid entries themselves are not school abbreviations; their beginnings evoke them.
