The best-documented expansion was announced on March 18, 2024, with three-year coverage for six QD-OLED models. Newer product pages add other models, including one with a four-year “3+1” structure. The catch is important: warranty duration and eligibility depend on the exact model, country, retailer and applicable terms.
What Gigabyte changed
In its March 18, 2024 announcement, Gigabyte said the AORUS and GIGABYTE QD-OLED gaming-monitor lineup would receive a three-year warranty including panel burn-in coverage. The named models were the AORUS CO49DQ, AORUS FO32U2P, AORUS FO32U2, AORUS FO27Q3, GIGABYTE MO34WQC2 and GIGABYTE MO34WQC. Gigabyte presented the policy as reassurance about OLED durability. The announcement also mentioned a protective film intended to reduce scratches during delivery; that is shipping protection, not burn-in insurance. Read Gigabyte’s announcement.

Models that currently advertise burn-in coverage
Gigabyte’s product pages make additional promises beyond the original 2024 list. The claims below are product-page statements, not a guarantee that every regional warranty document uses identical language.

Why the headline is not a blanket replacement promise
Burn-in coverage concerns persistent, uneven pixel wear or a fixed image that remains after normal compensation cycles. Temporary image retention can disappear and is not automatically a warranty failure. A separate panel defect, physical damage or misuse may be handled under different provisions.

Gigabyte’s U.S. monitor warranty language says screen burn caused by displaying the same fixed screen, or a cropped image that is not shown at the monitor’s native scale, for extended periods is excluded. The general warranty describes repair or replacement when a product cannot be repaired, but shipment fees can still apply. Eligibility may be checked against the receipt, invoice, serial number or manufacturing date. See the U.S. monitor warranty terms.
The regional-policy discrepancy buyers must understand
Gigabyte’s U.S. monitor warranty page currently lists OLED monitors generally as having a one-year warranty while noting that periods vary by model and region. That broad table does not neatly match every U.S. product-page badge promising three years of burn-in coverage.
Canada’s monitor warranty table lists the AORUS FO48U at 12 months and “all other OLED models” at 36 months. This is why “all Gigabyte OLED monitors get three years” is not a safe conclusion. Use the exact model, purchase country and serial number to establish the enforceable term. See Gigabyte Canada’s table.

What OLED Care does—and does not do
Gigabyte markets OLED Care and AI OLED Care as risk-reduction systems. Depending on the model, the features include protection algorithms, customizable care settings, background presets, thermal management and compensation routines. Newer AORUS ELITE material also describes heat pipes and thermal materials, an Auto Lock function that powers down the display when you leave, and Adaptive Light that adjusts brightness to ambient conditions.
These features are maintenance tools, not proof that burn-in is impossible and not a waiver of warranty exclusions. A desktop user who leaves static taskbars, application chrome, news tickers or game HUDs visible for long periods still has a higher exposure to uneven wear than someone displaying varied content.
Maintenance that can reduce risk
- Allow automatic pixel-compensation cycles to complete instead of repeatedly interrupting them.
- Use automatic standby or screen-off behavior when you step away.
- Vary content and avoid leaving bright, fixed interface elements on screen for extended periods.
- Follow the model manual’s compensation schedule. The AORUS CO49DQ manual recommends starting Pixel Clean after more than four hours of use; this refreshes panel compensation and is not a repair for established permanent burn-in. Read the CO49DQ manual.
What to verify before buying
- Write down the exact model suffix and the country where you will buy it.
- Open that country’s model-specific warranty terms and look for explicit “panel burn-in” wording, not merely a generic “three-year warranty.”
- Confirm that the seller is an authorized retailer, reseller or distributor. Used, open-box and refurbished units may not qualify unless the terms expressly say so.
- Ask how a “3+1” policy works: the additional year on the FO27Q24G is described as burn-in-only coverage, not a fourth year of every warranty benefit.
- Keep the original invoice or receipt showing recognizable dealer information, and retain the original packaging for a potentially large return shipment.
- Check the return window separately from the warranty; a return is usually simpler than a warranty claim for an early defect.
How existing owners can check eligibility and file a claim
- Identify the model, serial number, purchase date and purchase country.
- Use Gigabyte’s online warranty check. The company says this lookup does not require registration or an account login.
- Preserve the receipt or invoice and do not remove or damage the serial-number label.
- If the problem may be retention, run the monitor’s built-in OLED compensation process as described in its manual and observe whether the image clears.
- Photograph and video the symptom, including solid-color test screens and the monitor’s on-screen information where practical.
- Contact the regional support center before shipping. Ask whether the symptom qualifies as panel burn-in, what packaging is required and who pays transport charges.
Gigabyte says registration does not change the base warranty. Certain extended-warranty services can require registration within 30 days of purchase, so read the offer attached to your particular model.

Does the policy apply to monitors bought earlier?
No universal retroactive rule is established in Gigabyte’s published material. The March 2024 announcement describes the named lineup, while later product pages describe their own models and regional caveats. Owners of earlier units should have Gigabyte confirm eligibility using the model, serial number, purchase date and country rather than assuming a new product-page promise was added to every previously sold monitor.
What this means in the OLED warranty competition
Burn-in warranties have become a major way for OLED-monitor makers to address the technology’s biggest purchase objection. Gigabyte is clearly using explicit panel-burn-in language as a selling point on several models, so buyers no longer have to rely only on faith in OLED-care software.
That does not establish that Gigabyte has the industry’s best policy. A fair comparison requires the current, country-specific warranty document for every competing model. Gigabyte’s own pages show why: coverage can differ between a product badge, a general regional table and an individual model such as the Canadian-listed FO48U.
The practical verdict
Gigabyte’s expansion is meaningful when the exact monitor’s local terms expressly include panel burn-in. The FO32U, FO27Q5P, FO27Q3, FO27Q24G and MO32U24 pages provide especially clear examples, while the March 2024 announcement identifies six earlier QD-OLED models. Treat the promise as model- and region-specific protection, not a brand-wide guarantee. Before paying, verify the serial-number policy, authorized seller, exclusions and claim logistics for the country in which you will use the monitor.
