I’m obsessed with Techno Red’s look, but the right choice depends on your preferred color, local stock, price, and whether you want a standard controller or a limited-edition design.
What makes Techno Red different?
Techno Red belongs to Sony’s Hyperpop Collection, alongside Remix Green and Rhythm Blue. The design team wraps a seamless gradient around the front and back of each controller, then applies a high-gloss coat. On Techno Red, the color shifts from deep black to bright red, creating a more dramatic effect than a single-color shell.
The three controllers share the same Hyperpop treatment; only the color direction changes. Techno Red is the black-to-red version, Remix Green moves into neon green, and Rhythm Blue uses blue tones.

Sony announced an RRP of $84.99 USD, ¥12,480 including tax, €84.99 and £74.99 for the Hyperpop controllers. Sony’s UK listing confirms £74.99 for Techno Red. These are recommended prices, not a guarantee that every retailer will charge the same amount.
For context, Sony’s UK listings show several standard colors—including white, Cosmic Red and Midnight Black—at £64.99. That makes Hyperpop a £10 premium over those listed standard options in the UK. Local taxes, promotions and retailer pricing can change the comparison elsewhere.
When and where can you buy Techno Red?
Sony announced pre-orders beginning 16 January 2026, followed by release from 12 March 2026. Exact ordering times, launch dates and stock vary by country or region. Check your local PlayStation Direct store or authorized retailer immediately before buying; a color being announced does not mean it is continuously in stock.
Compatibility with PS5, PC and mobile
Techno Red is a DualSense wireless controller for PS5 and is also listed for PC, Mac and compatible mobile devices. The controller’s basic input support depends on the operating system, game and connection method.
PS5
On PS5, it functions as a standard DualSense controller. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers work only in games that support those features.

PC and Mac

Techno Red PS5 Slim cover
Sony lists a matching Techno Red cover for PS5 Slim consoles. It is a visual match rather than a controller upgrade, and Sony describes availability for console covers as limited in select markets. Confirm that your console is a PS5 Slim before ordering; the cover is not a universal fit for every PS5 model.
