You can favor fine detail or a higher refresh rate, but the monitor does not run native 4K at 320Hz.
What does dual mode mean?
MSI describes two resolution-and-refresh-rate combinations: UHD at up to 160Hz and FHD at up to 320Hz. The higher-refresh option uses 1920 × 1080, not 3840 × 2160. That makes the choice useful for switching priorities between games: use 4K when you want a sharper image, or 1080p when a game and your PC can make better use of a higher refresh rate.
The manufacturer’s product page also lists paired modes of UHD 120Hz/FHD 240Hz and UHD 60Hz/FHD 120Hz. Its AI Dual Mode feature is described as detecting the current resolution and refresh rate, then adjusting refresh rate when the resolution changes. What else does the monitor offer?
MSI announced the MPG 274URDFW E16M on May 16, 2025. Its listed display specifications include a Rapid IPS panel, Mini-LED backlighting with 1,152 full-array local-dimming zones, and quantum-dot technology. MSI also lists VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, a minimum 0.5ms GtG response time, and color coverage of 98% DCI-P3, 100% Adobe RGB, and 140% sRGB, with Delta E≤2 color accuracy. The local-dimming zone count and HDR certification describe the monitor’s design and certification, not a guarantee of zero blooming or a specific measured HDR brightness. The reviewed sources do not provide independent HDR measurements, input-lag results, or game benchmarks.
Which mode should you use?
- Choose 4K up to 160Hz when detail is the priority and your system can drive the game at the frame rate you want.
- Choose 1080p up to 320Hz when you prefer a higher refresh-rate ceiling and are willing to trade away resolution.
The monitor’s maximum refresh rate does not guarantee that a game will render that many frames per second. Your graphics hardware, the game, and the selected resolution all affect the frame rate you can achieve.

What connections and setup features are listed?
MSI lists HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, USB-C with up to 98W Power Delivery, KVM support, and a four-way adjustable stand. MSI says USB-C video uses DisplayPort Alt Mode. HotHardware reports two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one DisplayPort 1.4a input, and a 3.5mm headphone output. Check the specifications for the exact market and unit before buying: MSI notes that specifications and availability can vary by country and change without notice. For a laptop setup, confirm that the computer supports video over USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and that 98W is enough for its charging needs. For a console or desktop PC, check that its output and cable support the resolution and refresh-rate combination you intend to use.

What is known about price and availability?
MSI’s May 16, 2025 announcement did not give a price or retail date. HotHardware reported that neither had been announced at that time.
