Samsung announced Galaxy Buds On on October 1, 2026: its first clip-on wireless earbuds in the Galaxy Buds line. They sit around the ear without sealing the canal, and Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback per charge. The first release is scheduled for South Korea on October 27; Samsung has not announced dates or prices for other countries.
What are Samsung Galaxy Buds On?
Galaxy Buds On are open-ear clip-on earbuds. Rather than fitting into or covering the ear canal, each bud hooks lightly around the ear. Samsung says the design is meant to let listeners hear their surroundings while listening to audio; that is a product-use claim, not a guarantee of safety in traffic or other situations where awareness matters.
Samsung says it studied different ear shapes, adjusted component placement, and used a larger contact area to distribute pressure, with band elasticity intended to keep the earbuds stable during movement. These are design descriptions, not independently verified comfort or fit results. Music and call functions are controlled through touch areas on the back of each earbud.
What audio and call features does Samsung claim?
Playback and sound leakage
Samsung lists TwinBoost speakers intended to reinforce low frequencies, automatic volume adjustment that responds to the external environment, and Audio Leakage Reduction intended to limit sound escaping outward. Samsung cautions that leakage may still depend on playback volume, ear shape, ambient noise, and how the earbuds are worn. It may be more noticeable in quiet places such as libraries or cafes.

Calls
The announced call system combines three microphones, an Intelligent Clear Call feature, and a Voice Pickup Unit sensor that uses bone-conduction vibration sensing. Samsung says machine-learning processing isolates speech and reduces background noise. No independent call-quality testing or measurements are available in the launch materials, so performance in wind or noisy settings is not yet established.
How long does the Galaxy Buds On battery last?
Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on a charge. The announcement does not provide the test conditions behind that maximum, and there is no independent battery result to compare with it. Treat 9.5 hours as Samsung’s stated figure, not a verified expectation for every listening volume or use pattern.

Which phones support Galaxy Buds On smart features?
Samsung describes several hands-free features, but says they require a Galaxy AI-supported Samsung phone or tablet. It does not claim that every feature works with every phone.
- Gemini Live: Samsung says users can invoke it by voice from a supported Galaxy device.
- Quick Voice Memo and Bixby search: A long press on the rear touch area starts a memo. The feature requires a Galaxy AI-supported device, Samsung Voice Recorder and Bixby apps, and the long-press control configured; Samsung says recordings can then be searched with Bixby.
- Head gestures: Samsung says nodding or shaking the head can answer or end calls, dismiss alarms, or read message notifications.
Samsung says opening the charging case enables connection to a Galaxy phone or tablet. It also says volume and equalizer settings are available through system settings and Quick Panel without installing Galaxy Wearable. The announcement does not provide a full compatibility list for non-Samsung phones or specify which functions, if any, are available on them.

The launch announcement provides Samsung’s specifications and feature descriptions, but independent testing has not established comfort across different ear shapes, retention during exercise, sound quality, leakage at typical listening levels, call clarity, or real-world battery life. Those are the practical questions to check once hands-on testing is available. Samsung’s open-ear positioning may suit listeners who want less isolation, but it should not be treated as a substitute for attention to surroundings.
