What does Loot Merge do?
CD PROJEKT RED describes Loot Merge as a way to group nearby loot into a single window, so you do not have to browse multiple loot windows in turn. It is a gameplay setting, not an item or separate utility. The feature is included in the Remastered release; the publisher’s September 29, 2026 release announcement lists the game for PC storefronts, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

A how-to guide updated September 30, 2026 describes the setting as combining nearby enemy drops into one lootable body, while environmental containers such as chests, barrels, and sacks remain separate. That container detail comes from the guide, not the publisher’s feature notes. Neither source specifies the exact proximity threshold, and the feature is not described as automatically collecting loot: you still interact with loot to open its window.
How to enable Loot Merge
- Open the pause menu during play, or go to the main menu.
- Select Settings, then choose Gameplay.
- Find Enable Loot Merge and switch it on.
The setting takes effect immediately, according to the September 30 how-to guide. The publisher also places the feature in Settings → Gameplay in its September 28, 2026 Remastered feature notes.

Should you leave it on?
Turn it on if you prefer to handle nearby enemy drops through fewer loot windows. Leave it off if you would rather loot nearby bodies separately. Containers remain individually opened, according to the how-to guide; the feature notes do not state that Loot Merge applies to them.

The Remastered release includes Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. CD PROJEKT RED says eligible owners can upgrade free within the same platform ecosystem; its feature notes list supported ecosystems. The publisher’s October 1, 2026 PC hotfix 5.00c notice covers Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and Xbox Play Anywhere PC versions. It lists fixes for save and load paths containing special characters, audio levels, visual adjustments, HairWorks performance and visual issues, telemetry persistence, GOG achievements, and launching the Classic 1.32 version. This PC hotfix notice does not establish the same update status for every console.
