The REDMAGIC Nova was a genuine worldwide gaming-tablet launch in 2024, pairing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version chip with a built-in fan and a 144Hz display. But it is no longer a straightforward new purchase: as of August 18, 2026, REDMAGIC’s global product page lists it as sold out and points buyers toward the newer Astra. The Nova is still an interesting gaming tablet; whether it is a sensible buy now depends on the price, condition, and warranty of any remaining unit.
What the REDMAGIC Nova was built for
The Nova is an Android tablet designed around sustained gaming rather than office work or creative productivity. Its defining combination is a large, fast display and an integrated cooling fan—hardware aimed at keeping demanding games playable through longer sessions. It launched internationally in 2024, running REDMAGIC OS 9.5, and came in Midnight with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage or 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
It is distinct from REDMAGIC gaming phones and from the newer Astra tablet. The Nova’s global product page still shows a $499 price, but also marks the product sold out; that figure is a listed price, not evidence of current stock or an offer. REDMAGIC’s Nova product page directs visitors to the Astra as its newer gaming-tablet product.

These specifications are from REDMAGIC’s Nova technical page. The cited specifications do not identify the display as OLED, so buyers should not assume it has OLED contrast. They also do not establish cellular connectivity: the Nova should be treated as a Wi-Fi tablet unless a particular regional model is verified otherwise.

Performance: fast hardware, with cooling as the main distinction
“Leading Version” describes a higher-clocked variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, not a separate chip generation. REDMAGIC lists a CPU big-core frequency of up to 3.4GHz and a 1GHz GPU frequency, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage. That is a strong foundation for Android games, but specifications alone do not establish how any particular title or emulator performs over time.
The built-in fan is intended to help the Nova sustain performance under load. REDMAGIC lists a nine-layer cooling design, a 3D heat pipe, aluminum and copper thermal components, internal air circulation and a 20,000 RPM fan. Its launch material claims up to a 25°C reduction in core temperature and a 30% improvement in cooling efficiency. Those are company claims, not universal results: temperatures and throttling depend on the game, ambient conditions, performance mode and software.
REDMAGIC also reported an AnTuTu score of 2,352,902 at launch. That is a manufacturer-provided benchmark result, not a score guaranteed on every unit; benchmark outcomes vary with software version, device temperature and test configuration. A high refresh-rate panel does not mean every game renders at 144 frames per second, and an integrated fan cannot eliminate heat, battery drain or possible throttling.

Display, audio and play controls
The 10.9-inch 2880 × 1800 screen offers a 16:10 landscape canvas, with a maximum 144Hz refresh rate. Supported games and interface animations can look smoother at higher refresh rates, while the listed 240Hz standard and up-to-840Hz instant touch-sampling rates describe how often touch input can be sampled—not a guarantee of zero input lag. Game support, touch processing and network latency also shape responsiveness. The specified 550-nit brightness is a measurable figure, but it should not be taken as proof that the screen is ideal in bright outdoor conditions.

Four symmetrical speakers are a useful fit for landscape play, where balanced left and right audio can help keep effects intelligible. The Nova also has dual vibration motors and three built-in microphones. Vibration quality and microphone performance in a particular game or voice-chat setup are not established by the specification list; competitive players may still prefer a headset.
REDMAGIC names REDMAGIC Space 9.5 as its gaming software and lists Cube AI features in its launch article. The available official material does not document every menu, overlay or control in a particular firmware build, so buyers should not assume that every gaming-phone feature or specific tool—such as touch mapping, charging bypass or a particular performance overlay—is present on the tablet or behaves identically across regions.

Battery and charging: use 80W as the listed specification
The technical page lists a 10,100mAh battery and 80W fast charging. REDMAGIC’s launch article also mentions 120W flash charging, a 55-minute 0-to-100 charge and up to 18.7 hours of battery life. Because the current technical specification gives 80W while the launch material’s 120W reference is not clearly established as the normal global retail configuration, 80W is the safer figure to use for the Nova. Charging times can vary with charger, region, battery state, temperature and software; the launch runtime claim does not establish 18.7 hours of gaming.
Design, portability and everyday trade-offs
At 530g and 7.3mm thick, the Nova is relatively portable for a gaming tablet, but its weight still makes one-handed reading or long handheld sessions less comfortable than using a phone. REDMAGIC promoted a transparent-style look and RGB lighting, an expressive design that may be less discreet in a classroom or workplace.
The active fan is a practical trade-off as well as a gaming feature: it can make the tablet less appealing for quiet media use, and a mechanical component introduces possible concerns around dust, noise and long-term reliability. The specifications do not establish durability, so a thin body and large battery should not be taken as proof of ruggedness.

Can the Nova replace a work tablet?
The Nova has a 50MP rear camera, a 20MP front camera and USB-C 3.1 Gen 2. REDMAGIC says the tablet is compatible with its keyboard, mouse, pen and gamepad accessories, but compatibility does not mean those accessories are included. Camera megapixels alone do not establish image quality, autofocus or video-call performance. Nor does the cited USB-C specification establish support for a particular external-monitor resolution.
Those features make the Nova more versatile than a dedicated handheld, but its core proposition remains gaming. Buyers who prioritize note-taking, drawing, keyboard-first work, tablet applications or long-term software support should compare it with general-purpose tablets rather than assume gaming hardware makes it the better productivity choice.

As of August 18, 2026, REDMAGIC’s global Nova page marks the tablet sold out and lists $499 without showing current stock. That is not a live purchase offer. The official launch article is dated September 30, 2024; its early-bird promotion ran October 10–15, 2024, and has expired. For a current REDMAGIC tablet, the Nova page points to the REDMAGIC Astra product page. The available information establishes the Astra as the newer product destination, but does not support a specification or price comparison here.

Remaining Nova listings may be old stock, regional imports, refurbished units or Chinese-market models rather than the global configuration. Before buying from a third party, confirm:
- Exact RAM and storage configuration, and the model’s country or region of origin.
- Whether the unit is new, open-box or refurbished, and the seller’s return period.
- Firmware, language support and whether the charger plug and electrical compatibility suit your region.
- Who provides the warranty, whether the seller is authorized, and whether service or replacement parts are available.
REDMAGIC’s global listing notes that taxes may not be included in its displayed price and that region-specific adapters may be supplied; neither detail should be assumed for a third-party listing.
Software support and ownership horizon
REDMAGIC’s product page states that it provides regular updates every one to two months for more than two years and at least one Android OS update. That is the company’s stated policy, not a guarantee of indefinite support, prompt delivery of every Android feature or identical timing in every region. With the Nova launched in 2024, support expectations are worth weighing against the age and warranty of any unit available in 2026.
Quick Recap
Who should consider the Nova?
It may suit you if
- You can buy a verifiably genuine unit from a seller with a clear return policy and warranty.
- You want a large-screen Android gaming device with an integrated fan rather than an external cooler.
- You value a 144Hz display, four speakers, a large battery and up to 512GB of listed storage.
- The price is meaningfully lower than current alternatives and you accept the tablet’s software-support horizon.
Look elsewhere if
- You need a product currently sold directly by the manufacturer, cellular connectivity or assured service access.
- Quiet operation, OLED technology, keyboard-first work or a longer software-support commitment matters more than active cooling.
- The only available unit has unclear firmware, condition, charger compatibility or warranty terms.
