Yes, you may be able to recover a hacked Roblox account, but Roblox does not guarantee that it can restore access or return lost items or currency. Start by securing the device you use to play, then try Roblox’s password reset. If the reset fails—especially if the hacker changed the account email or 2-Step Verification—contact Roblox Support and provide evidence that helps verify you are the owner.
What counts as a hacked Roblox account?
Assume your account may be compromised if your password stops working unexpectedly, the email or phone number has changed, or you receive unfamiliar 2-Step Verification prompts. Other warning signs include changes to your username, avatar, or settings; missing Robux or inventory; or messages sent from your account that you did not write. A Roblox banner asking you to change your password can also appear after suspicious activity or if Roblox believes the password may have been exposed elsewhere. Roblox explains why that banner can appear.
Roblox’s Terms of Use say to notify Support promptly if someone uses your account without authorization.
What should you do first?
Secure your device and email
- Stop using a device that may be infected for account recovery. Remove suspicious browser extensions and unofficial downloads, including executors, scripts, or “free Robux” tools. Run a full antivirus or malware scan before signing in again. Roblox specifically recommends removing off-site downloads and extensions and scanning the device in its hacked-account guidance.
- Secure the email account connected to Roblox. If someone might access it, change its password from a clean device and enable its available security protections.
- Do not keep trying old Roblox passwords. Move to the official reset process or Support instead.
Try the official password reset
- On the Roblox login page, select Forgot Password or Username?
- Enter the email address currently associated with the account and follow the instructions Roblox sends. If more than one account is listed, choose the correct one.
- If phone recovery is available for your account, you may also use the phone verification option.
- Once you regain access, set a new password that you do not use on other sites.
Roblox’s password-reset instructions say the automated process needs an email address or phone number on the account. Phone verification is available only in select countries. If neither is attached, contact Support rather than expecting the automated reset to work.

What if the hacker changed your email or password?
If the reset does not reach you or Roblox no longer recognizes your email, submit a request through the official Roblox Support form. Roblox requires ownership verification before it can reset an account or change its information. Its hacked-account guidance says the first email address ever added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment can help verify ownership even if the current email was changed. These details help; they do not guarantee recovery. If the account had no email or card/PayPal payment, Roblox says it may explore other verification options.

Gather relevant ownership details
- Your Roblox username and any former usernames you remember.
- Approximate account-creation date and when you first noticed the compromise.
- The first email address associated with the account and, if relevant, the billing email for the first payment.
- Devices and locations you normally use to play.
- Receipts or transaction details and legitimate Roblox security emails showing changes, if available.
- A brief description of what changed, such as the password, email, phone number, 2-Step Verification method, or inventory.
Share only information requested through Roblox’s official form. Do not send your current password, browser cookies, session tokens, 2-Step Verification codes, backup codes, full card number, or card security code. Do not send remote-access credentials or give anyone control of your device.
Use one clear account of what happened
Keep the request concise and factual. For example:
My Roblox account, username [username], was compromised on or around [date]. The [password/email/phone/2-Step Verification] was changed without my permission. The first email associated with the account was [email]. The billing email for my first payment was [email, if applicable]. I normally used [device/location]. Please help verify ownership and restore access. I would also like the account reviewed for unauthorized inventory or currency changes.
Include only details you can support, and redact sensitive payment information from any receipt you attach.

What if 2-Step Verification is blocking you?
Use another verification method already configured for your account, if one is available. Depending on the account and setup, Roblox supports email codes, authenticator-app codes, backup codes, approval from another device already logged in, and passkeys or security keys. If none works, contact Roblox Support.
- Email code: Check spam, junk, promotions, and social folders, and confirm you are checking the right address. Use Resend Code or Start Over if needed. Roblox says email 2-Step Verification codes expire after 15 minutes; request a fresh code if one has expired or stopped working.
- Authenticator app: Enter the currently displayed code rather than one that has expired.
- Backup code: Use a saved code if you generated one. Each backup code is single-use.
See Roblox’s 2-Step Verification troubleshooting steps and available verification and recovery methods.
What if you are still logged in on a trusted device?
Being logged in somewhere is different from having exclusive control: the attacker may still have access. From a trusted, clean device, change your Roblox password, check and restore your email and phone details, and secure the email account itself. Then review security settings and activity for changes you did not make.

- Open Settings → Security and enable 2-Step Verification with a method you can reliably access.
- Generate backup codes there and store them somewhere private and safe. Each code can be used once.
- Change any reused password on other sites.
- Review Roblox security settings and remove or correct details you do not recognize.
Roblox also offers phishing-resistant passkeys and hardware security keys through Enhanced Protection. These methods can strengthen sign-in security, but set up recovery options too; losing an authentication method can make account recovery more involved.
Can Roblox restore stolen Robux or items?
Getting back into the account and recovering lost inventory are separate outcomes. Roblox says it does not guarantee restoration to the account’s previous state. In limited circumstances, it may be able to help with lost inventory or an approximate value, but receipts do not guarantee reimbursement. If you want Roblox to consider help with compromised inventory or currency, contact Support within 30 days of the compromise. That deadline concerns seeking assistance with the loss; it is not a general 30-day deadline for account recovery.
Describe what went missing and when, and ask Support to review the unauthorized activity. Roblox says it does not support or enforce deals involving items or currency made outside its official systems.

What if the account was banned after the hack?
Use Roblox’s official support or appeal route and explain that the account was compromised. State when the unauthorized activity began and identify messages, trades, purchases, or other actions you did not perform. Stick to what you know rather than presenting uncertain details as fact. Follow the current official appeal instructions; do not rely on unofficial contacts or create multiple replacement accounts as a substitute for resolving the original account’s case.
What if the account still cannot be recovered?
If you have new ownership evidence, send one clear follow-up through the official channel and explain what it adds. Keep receipts and legitimate Roblox emails, and retain the Support correspondence. Roblox may not be able to verify every account, and it does not promise that access or inventory can be restored. Avoid sending repeated, contradictory requests or paying someone who claims they can bypass Roblox’s verification.
How can you avoid recovery scams?
Only Roblox Support can handle Roblox account recovery. A person claiming to be an employee or “recovery expert” on Discord, TikTok, YouTube, X, or elsewhere cannot safely bypass the official process.

Never share your password, browser cookies or session tokens, email password, 2-Step Verification or backup codes, or remote access to your computer or phone. Do not send screenshots that reveal codes or private account information. Roblox says its employees will not ask for passwords, cookies, verification codes, backup codes, or sensitive computer information. Treat “free Robux” offers, surveys, suspicious extensions, and recovery services as warning signs; see Roblox’s account-safety guidance.
How can parents help a child recover an account?
A parent or guardian can help secure the child’s device and email, gather account and payment details, and communicate with Support. Roblox says a parent’s email can be used as a parental recovery email for users under 13. Email and phone verification options depend on account setup, and phone verification is limited to select countries. See Roblox’s email and phone verification guidance.
