3dSen PC gives more than 100 supported NES games a 3D voxel-diorama presentation while retaining their original game logic. It is not an automatic converter for every NES ROM: each supported game relies on a hand-tuned profile, and you must supply your own game files. The software left Early Access on June 19, 2025.
What is 3dSen PC?
3dSen PC is a commercial NES emulator from Geod Studio, built around game-specific profiles that reinterpret supported games as 3D scenes. Instead of simply displaying the original pixels on a flat screen, it arranges visual elements into voxel-style environments that can be viewed from adjustable camera angles. The underlying game remains an NES game; this is a visual reinterpretation, not a conventional remake with newly created gameplay and assets.
The current Steam listing advertises real-time lighting and shadows, animated skyboxes, custom camera controls, and the ability to export scenes to 3D files. These features depend on the game and its profile; the listing does not establish that every title supports every effect equally.
How the 3D effect works
3dSen’s profiles tell the emulator how to interpret a particular game’s graphics and objects in a 3D composition. Sprites, platforms, backgrounds, and other scene elements gain depth, while the camera can be zoomed, rotated, and reframed. The result is best understood as a playable diorama around the original game, rather than a full 3D rebuild of its world.

That profile-based approach is both the product’s defining feature and its compatibility limit. A game may work in a conventional NES emulator but lack a 3dSen profile. Even a listed game may not match if the ROM is a different region or revision from the one the profile expects.
Which games are supported?
The current Steam listing advertises 100+ supported titles and growing. Examples include Super Mario Bros., Contra, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Duck Hunt, Dragon Warrior, Mega Man, Castlevania, Battle Kid, and Micro Mages. The developer’s 3dSen PC page recorded Jackal as the 100th supported game in May 2025.

Support can change as profiles are added, so check the developer’s current information before buying for one specific game. Older launch coverage described a smaller library because it reported the 2020 Early Access version, not the current count.
What you get—and what you need to provide
A purchase provides the emulator and its game-specific 3D profiles, not the commercial NES games themselves. The Steam listing says users must provide their own ROMs. Use only game files you are legally entitled to use; the rules for making or using ROM copies vary by jurisdiction, and owning a cartridge does not automatically settle every legal question.

The Steam product listing also states that Nintendo is not affiliated with 3dSen. Do not mistake the supported-game examples for games bundled with the software.
Release status and price
3dSen PC entered Steam Early Access on June 19, 2020, and reached its full version 1.0 release on June 19, 2025, according to the Steam product page. Older descriptions of it as a new Early Access release are historical.
The U.S. Steam listing showed a price of $14.99 when checked for this article. Steam prices can vary by region and change during sales; check the store page for the current price. The developer also offers 3dSen PC through its itch.io page.

Features advertised on the current Steam listing include quick save and load, rollback, fast-forward, custom camera controls, scene export, custom cover art, keyboard and mouse input, and gamepad support. The listing also describes local multiplayer or shared/split-screen play where the game supports it. Individual features and visual effects may vary by profile.

The listing advertises Windows, macOS, Linux, and SteamOS/Linux support. Its posted requirements are unusually old-looking, so treat them as the requirements currently displayed by Steam rather than a guarantee for every modern computer:

These are the figures displayed on the Steam listing. They may not answer questions about Apple Silicon Macs, newer Linux distributions, handheld PCs, or unusual graphics hardware. Check the current store information for your system before purchase. A basic NES emulator has modest demands, but 3D effects, lighting, shadows, and higher resolutions can behave differently from flat emulation.
PC version or VR?
3dSen PC and 3dSen VR are separate products. The PC listing directs users who want PC and VR modes to 3dSen VR; do not assume a 3dSen PC purchase includes VR access.
Is 3dSen PC worth buying?
- Consider it if your favorite NES games are supported and you want a visual reinterpretation, adjustable camera, scene exports, or modern convenience features such as quick saves and fast-forward.
- Skip it if you need broad compatibility with arbitrary NES games, prefer an accuracy-first flat emulator, or expect the purchase to include Nintendo game files.
- Check first if you want a particular title, use a specific ROM revision, need reliable support on a modern Mac or Linux setup, or are looking for VR rather than monitor-based play.
For setup, install 3dSen PC from Steam or the developer’s official itch.io page, then use a ROM you are legally entitled to use. Confirm that the game and your ROM revision match a supported profile. The available product information does not establish exact in-app menu labels or a universal ROM-selection sequence, so consult the current product documentation rather than relying on assumed steps.
