As of August 18, 2026, the available official status information does not confirm a global GeForce NOW outage. NVIDIA’s status page showed global services and listed server regions as operational, while noting issues involving Palworld cloud saves and intermittent Call of Duty HQ crashes. Those are game-specific problems, not evidence that the entire service is down. Status can change, and an operational listing does not rule out a regional, ISP, account, app, or device problem.
Is GeForce NOW down right now?
The latest status information available for this article is dated August 18, 2026. NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW status page listed global services and server regions as operational, with unresolved incidents for Palworld cloud saves and intermittent Call of Duty HQ crashes. Downdetector’s indexed UK and Ireland pages did not show a current widespread-problem signal, but those reports are location-dependent and are not proof of service availability everywhere.
This is not confirmation of a minute-by-minute status on August 16, 2026, or at the moment you read this. Check the status page for its latest update time before deciding whether to troubleshoot locally or wait.

NVIDIA directs users to its service-status page for worldwide and server-region conditions. The page’s component states distinguish operational service from degraded performance, partial outage, and major outage; its status API documentation describes those states.

What kind of problem are you seeing?
“GeForce NOW is down” can describe several different failures. Identifying where the session breaks narrows the likely cause.
- Sign-in or app loading fails: could involve NVIDIA services, the app, an account session, or a local network.
- Your library is missing or incomplete: check library synchronization, store-account linking, and title availability.
- A game never connects to a rig or shows a server error: could be a regional server, session-start, or network-routing problem.
- Only one game crashes or will not launch: suspect that title, its publisher’s servers, a game update, or launcher authentication before assuming a platform outage.
- A queue is unusually long: queues can reflect demand, membership priority, or capacity in a particular region; a queue alone is not an outage.
- Cloud saves fail or look missing: avoid repeatedly starting the affected game if a save conflict is possible, and check the status page for a save-related incident.
- The game streams but stutters or looks poor: investigate latency, jitter, packet loss, Wi-Fi interference, and bandwidth rather than treating this as a login outage.
The August 2026 status information’s Palworld save issue and intermittent Call of Duty HQ crashes illustrate why one affected title does not establish that GeForce NOW as a whole is unavailable.

How to tell whether it is global, regional, or on your side
A global-outage claim needs more than a cluster of complaints. Stronger evidence would include an NVIDIA notice for global services, several regions reporting degraded or unavailable service, and independent reports across multiple countries describing similar failures. Core functions such as login and session creation failing across different devices, games, and networks add weight. A single title, one region, or one user’s connection is not enough.
Check the affected region
NVIDIA lists individual server-region components as well as global services. A regional server problem can leave other locations working. Record your country and city, selected or automatically assigned server region, ISP or mobile carrier, device and operating system, whether you are using the app or browser, the exact error, and whether every game fails.

Use a quick comparison test
- If one game fails but another launches, focus on the game, publisher, or connected store account.
- If the browser works but the app fails on the same device and network, the app installation, cache, or device is a more likely lead than a global outage.
- If a phone hotspot works but home broadband does not, investigate home Wi-Fi, firewall settings, congestion, or ISP routing.
- If multiple games fail across devices and networks, and the status page shows an incident, service-side trouble becomes more likely.
These comparisons narrow the cause; they do not independently prove that NVIDIA is or is not experiencing a broader issue.
What to do if GeForce NOW will not connect
- Check NVIDIA’s status page. Look at global services, your region, relevant components, incident updates, and timestamps. Note or capture the result so you can compare it later.
- Compare local outage reports. Check a Downdetector page for your country, such as the UK page. Treat a report spike as supporting evidence, not confirmation.
- Try a second supported game. If it works, the first title or its publisher may be the issue. If both fail, continue testing.
- Compare app and browser access. Close the app, then try play.geforcenow.com in a supported browser. NVIDIA also lists its app and browser access options on its download page.
- Try another network. Test Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, then a mobile hotspot or another connection if available. If the alternate network works, focus on the original network or its route to the service.
- Check connection quality. Compare your connection with NVIDIA’s requirements, including its target of less than 80 ms latency to an NVIDIA data center. A speed test to a nearby commercial server does not necessarily measure the route to the GeForce NOW data center you use.
- Restart in a low-risk order. Close the game, quit GeForce NOW fully, restart the device, and sign in again. Restart the router if other services are also failing. Try browser access before reinstalling the app; reinstalling cannot resolve an active NVIDIA outage.
- Verify accounts and game access. Make sure you are using the intended NVIDIA account and that the correct Steam, Epic, Ubisoft, GOG, or PC Game Pass account is linked. Confirm the game remains available to you and is not under publisher maintenance.
- Contact NVIDIA with useful details. Include the exact error, date and time with time zone, country and region, device and OS, app or browser, affected games, whether another network worked, and the status-page result. Add screenshots or session logs if available.
When the problem is one game, not GeForce NOW
GeForce NOW streams supported PC games connected to services such as Steam, Epic, GOG, PC Game Pass, and Ubisoft Connect. The game publisher’s servers, the game update, store authentication, or a cloud-save conflict can fail independently of NVIDIA’s streaming infrastructure. NVIDIA explains library connection and gameplay in its how-to-play guide and lists supported titles and storefronts on its games page.

Test a second game before changing plans or reinstalling. If only one title is affected, check its publisher and launcher status, confirm the right store account is connected, and be cautious about retrying if saves may be involved. A game’s presence in your PC library does not guarantee that it is available through GeForce NOW in every region or at every moment.

No. A paid tier cannot repair a global or regional NVIDIA incident, a publisher outage, a broken game update, an authentication failure, or an ISP routing problem. Premium membership features may help with queue priority or streaming capabilities when those are the issue, but they do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. NVIDIA’s membership page describes premium features and Day Pass access.

These marketplace figures describe US listings observed on that date, not guaranteed current prices or service outcomes. Check the NVIDIA marketplace before subscribing. A Day Pass may suit someone testing premium performance or queue priority, but it is not an outage workaround.
What to do while waiting for service to recover
- Follow the latest timestamped incident updates on NVIDIA’s status page rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app.
- If the issue is specific to one publisher or title, check that game’s own service and launcher information.
- Do not repeatedly launch a game when a cloud-save problem is suspected.
- If you need to play immediately, consider a local installation or another cloud-gaming service only after checking that it supports your game, region, account, saves, and device. No alternative can be assumed to share GeForce NOW’s library or availability.
