It was not a permanent Game Pass benefit, and the offer expired in 2021. Microsoft’s announcement set a January 31, 2021 claim deadline and a separate March 2, 2021 redemption deadline. (Xbox Wire)
What did the Game Pass Ultimate offer include?
The Perk provided a 30-day trial of Disney+, the streaming service featuring Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic programming. It was a temporary trial delivered through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s Perks—not Disney+ access permanently included with a Game Pass subscription. Microsoft announced it alongside other November 2020 Game Pass updates. (Xbox Wire)
Who qualified?
The promotion was limited to new Disney+ subscribers aged 18 or older, with one offer per account. It was available only in specified markets, and Disney+’s Subscriber Agreement applied. The listed markets were Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Being a Game Pass Ultimate member—or living in a listed country—did not by itself guarantee eligibility if the user had previously subscribed to Disney+.
Microsoft’s offer terms and eligibility details are in its original announcement; the governing Disney+ terms are in the Disney+ Subscriber Agreement.

When did the offer end?
| Milestone | Date |
|---|---|
| Microsoft announced the Perk | November 9, 2020 |
| Last day to claim it | January 31, 2021 |
| Last day to redeem a claimed offer | March 2, 2021 |
| Current status | Expired |
Claiming and redeeming were separate steps: claiming the Perk by January 31 did not remove the requirement to activate it by March 2. The dates come from Microsoft’s announcement.
How was it redeemed at the time?
Contemporaneous coverage reported that members could find the Perk in the Xbox console’s Perks Gallery or in the Xbox Game Pass mobile app for iOS or Android, then follow the prompt to Disney+ to activate the trial. These are historical directions for the 2020 promotion, not current redemption instructions; the offer is over and Xbox menus may have changed. (Gaming Instincts’ contemporaneous report)

Would the trial have started a paid subscription?
Yes. Microsoft said Disney+ would automatically renew after the 30-day trial at its then-current monthly price unless the subscriber canceled. That historical price wording is not a current price quote. Anyone who activated the trial and did not want to continue needed to cancel before the renewal date shown in their Disney+ account. Recording the activation date and checking the account’s renewal information would have helped avoid an unwanted charge; the applicable terms were Disney+’s Subscriber Agreement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you claim it now?
No. The deadlines passed in 2021, so old articles or cached Perks pages do not mean the Disney+ trial is still available. If you want Disney+ now, check Disney+ directly. If you want Game Pass Ultimate for its gaming benefits, check the current Xbox Game Pass page and Perks catalog; do not count on this expired Disney+ promotion when deciding whether a subscription is worthwhile.
