If Genshin Impact will not download, first check free storage, switch to a stable network, and restart your device. On PC, fully exit HoYoPlay and use Repair Now if the launcher can detect the game. A download that shows 100% may still be verifying or extracting files, so check for disk activity before cancelling or reinstalling. The right fix depends on whether the problem is with the installer, launcher, app store, or game files.
Identify what is failing
Start with the symptom rather than deleting files. HoYoverse lists network, storage, installation files, and security software among possible causes of download or installation trouble. Its download and update guidance recommends using the official launcher or platform update tool.

Try these fixes in order
- Check storage. On PC, check the drive selected in HoYoPlay, not just the Windows system drive. On phones and consoles, check internal storage. - Change the connection. Restart your router, then try Ethernet on PC or another Wi-Fi network. A phone hotspot can help determine whether the usual network is the problem, but consider its data cap before using it for a large download. Temporarily disconnect a VPN, proxy, DNS filter, or network accelerator and retry.
- Restart the device and launcher. Restart the PC, phone, or console. On Windows, close HoYoPlay, exit it from the system tray if it is still running, and use Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and end any remaining launcher process. Reopen HoYoPlay and retry.
- Repair the PC game files. In HoYoPlay, locate Genshin Impact, open the control beside Start Game, and select Repair Now. Let verification or repair finish, then reopen the launcher. HoYoverse uses this as a first-line repair option in its error-code guidance.
- Check security software. Review antivirus quarantine or protection history for official HoYoPlay or Genshin files. Restore or allowlist a file only if it came from the official installation. If temporarily testing whether a firewall or antivirus is blocking the download, turn protection back on immediately afterward; do not leave it disabled.
- Reinstall only if simpler fixes fail. Use the official source for your platform. Reinstallation uses more time, bandwidth, and storage than repair, so first confirm the account is linked and accessible.

Fix a stuck HoYoPlay download on Windows
At 0% or 0 KB/s
Try another network first, then fully exit HoYoPlay and reopen it. If a VPN, proxy, or network accelerator is active, disconnect it for a test. Check that the selected drive is connected, writable, and has sufficient space. If the launcher detects the game, run Repair Now. At a fixed percentage
Do not cancel immediately if the connection or drive is still active. Open Task Manager and check HoYoPlay’s network and disk activity. If activity has stopped, retry on a different network, inspect antivirus quarantine, and use Repair Now. A slow mechanical drive can take longer to write or verify files; HoYoverse recommends an SSD for better performance in its download troubleshooting guidance.
When the launcher or installation itself fails
Confirm that your Windows account can write to the chosen folder and that the installation drive is not read-only. Avoid moving the game folder while a download or verification is in progress. Running HoYoPlay as administrator can be a troubleshooting test, but it should not replace checking drive permissions. If the installer appears incomplete or extraction fails, close resource-heavy background apps, restart the PC, check requirements, and download the installer again from the official site. For error 9001 or a launcher repair utility, use the current instructions linked from HoYoverse’s error-code page. Do not rely on an old executable link from an archived guide. Avoid registry edits, random DNS changes, hosts-file modifications, DLL downloads, and third-party repair tools as first steps.
Fix Android and iPhone or iPad downloads
First distinguish an app-store download that will not start from a game that installs but fails to download in-game resources. For the store, check the device’s compatibility and free space, restart the phone or tablet, switch Wi-Fi or mobile data, and retry in Google Play or the Apple App Store. If the store itself is malfunctioning on Android, clearing the Google Play Store and Google Play Services cache may help; it is not a fix for a failed in-game resource download.
If the app installs but its resources fail repeatedly, use the official store’s update or reinstall process. Before removing an app, make sure you can access the account used for the game. Fix PlayStation and Xbox downloads
Check console storage, restart the console, and test the network connection. Pause and resume the download, then use the console’s own download or update controls. If the failure persists, reinstall only after confirming you can access the account and understanding the console’s saved-data settings. HoYoverse’s current requirements page lists these minimums and available-storage figures. Requirements can change, and the company warns that storage needs may rise with future updates, so leave extra working room rather than treating the minimum as a safe target.

Why 100% may not mean the download is finished
After the download reaches 100%, HoYoPlay may still verify files or extract data. Check disk activity and allow that process to finish rather than cancelling solely because the percentage has not changed. HoYoverse advises waiting for verification; if the launcher remains stuck for an extended time, contact support. Its download and installation troubleshooting also addresses timeout and resource-download failures. For a timeout or “resource download failed” message, switch networks and restart the download.
Reinstall from an official source
Reinstall when the installer is corrupted, Repair Now repeatedly fails, HoYoPlay cannot recognize the installation, or the same error returns after network and security checks. Before uninstalling, confirm you can sign into the account that holds your progress, note your server and UID if available, and ensure enough space for a fresh download and installation. Do not delete unrelated HoYoverse games or folders.
- PC: Get HoYoPlay from the official Genshin Impact website.
- Android: Install or update through Google Play.
- iPhone or iPad: Install or update through the Apple App Store.
- PlayStation or Xbox: Use the console’s official storefront and download tools.
Avoid unofficial APKs, repacks, torrents, and third-party “compressed” installers: they may be incomplete, out of date, modified, or unsafe.
Contact HoYoverse Support with useful details
If the problem survives the platform-specific steps, send support enough information to distinguish a network issue from a launcher or file problem. Include:
- Device model, operating-system version, platform, and country or region.
- Internet provider and whether you used Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or mobile data.
- Exact error code and wording, plus a screenshot or screen recording.
- Date and time of the failure, and the steps already tried.
- Relevant launcher or download log, if available.
On PC, the listed download error log is Genshin ImpactGenshinImpact_DataPersistentDownloadError.log. HoYoPlay also has an Settings → About → Upload Log option.
