Microsoft’s October 2024 Game Pass announcement added Sifu, Mad Streets and Inscryption to the then-current Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate tiers on staggered dates. MLB The Show 24 and Open Roads were separate October 2 additions to Standard. This is a historical update, not a list of games arriving now: Microsoft’s current U.S. plans use different names.
What Microsoft announced for October 2024
Published on October 1, 2024, the announcement reflected a change in how Game Pass additions were presented after Standard launched the previous month. Some titles were coming to Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate together; two others were specifically entering Standard after having been available through the discontinued Xbox Game Pass for Console. The announcement’s dates and tier labels are historical. Thurrott’s October 1, 2024 report described the rollout.
Three games came to Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate
In this announcement, “all three tiers” meant the then-current Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate plans—not every Game Pass product or every platform.
| Game | October 2024 date | Reported access | What kind of game it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sifu | October 2 | Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate | A martial-arts action game centered on close-quarters combat. |
| Mad Streets | October 7 | Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate | A physics-driven party brawler. |
| Inscryption | October 10 | Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate | A card-based game that mixes deck-building with horror and puzzle elements. |
The same report said all three would be available through Xbox Cloud Gaming for Ultimate subscribers at the time. That describes the October 2024 announcement, not their present cloud or catalog status.

Two more games were specifically added to Standard
MLB The Show 24 and Open Roads were both scheduled to join Game Pass Standard on October 2, 2024. The report framed them as titles that had already been available through the discontinued Xbox Game Pass for Console and were now becoming available through Standard. They were distinct from the three games announced across Standard, PC Game Pass and Ultimate.
What Standard did not include in that announcement
The October 2024 report said Standard did not include day-one additions from Xbox Game Studios or other developers. It named Diablo IV, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Starfield and Forza Motorsport as major games not then included in Standard. This was a description of that plan and library at that time; it should not be treated as a permanent rule for later plans.

Five games were scheduled to leave on October 15

- Everspace 2
- From Space
- F1 Manager 2023
- Scorn
According to the report, subscribers could buy departing games at a 20% discount before removal. A subscription provides access while a game is in the catalog; downloading it does not confer ownership. If a title leaves, continued play requires owning it or having another valid entitlement.

How to read the 2024 tier differences
For the plans as described in October 2024, Standard suited console players seeking a broad catalog who did not require day-one releases. PC Game Pass was the PC-focused option, while Ultimate combined console and PC access with day-one releases and cloud gaming. Those distinctions explain why the announcement separated Standard-only additions from the three games listed across all three tiers; they are not a current plan recommendation.

Microsoft’s current U.S. Game Pass page lists Essential, Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass rather than Standard. Its plan descriptions distinguish catalog size, platforms and benefits, and Microsoft notes that availability varies by plan, region, platform and time. Current cloud eligibility and supported devices can also change. Check Microsoft’s live Game Pass page for present plan details and catalog availability instead of assuming that a 2024 tier or cloud listing still applies. Microsoft also says access ends when a subscription expires or a game leaves the library.
