The App Store version gives iPhone and iPad owners a standard way to install Riley Testut’s emulator without a jailbreak or the older AltStore sideloading route. It plays games from several Nintendo systems, but it does not include commercial games, support every console, or make every game file lawful to use.
Why Delta’s App Store release mattered
Delta is the successor to GBA4iOS and an all-in-one emulator project designed for non-jailbroken iOS devices. Before the App Store release, it was distributed primarily through Testut’s AltStore because Apple’s rules did not allow emulator apps in the ordinary App Store. Apple changed its App Review Guidelines on April 5, 2024 to permit retro-console emulator apps, and Delta followed on April 17, 2024. The change opened Apple’s standard distribution channel; it did not make Delta a new project. (Delta project; Apple’s April 5 announcement; April 17 launch coverage.)
Delta is an independent emulator, not an official Nintendo product. Apple’s current Guideline 4.7 permits retro-console and PC emulator apps subject to its requirements; that is not blanket approval for every emulator or game download. (Apple App Review Guidelines.)
Where you can get Delta
Distribution depends on your Apple Account country or region, not simply where you happen to be. The US App Store listing offers Delta, and the official download guide directs users to the App Store or, depending on location, AltStore PAL. EU users may therefore encounter an alternative marketplace route under Apple’s EU arrangements. Do not assume every storefront has the same build, features, payment terms, or update timing. Check Delta’s current download guide and Apple’s EU distribution information for your location.

Delta is listed as free to download, with optional in-app purchases shown on the listing. The listing identifies Testut Tech as the developer and credits Riley Testut. Systems and features
The App Store listing names seven Nintendo platforms. Delta is not a general-purpose emulator for PlayStation, Sega, arcade, GameCube, Wii, or 3DS games.

These platform listings do not guarantee perfect compatibility with every title. N64 and DS emulation can be more demanding than NES or Game Boy emulation, and results vary with the game and device.

Features described in the listing include save states, fast-forwarding, custom game artwork, controller support, AirPlay, multiplayer for supported systems, adjustable DS screen layouts, haptic or 3D Touch shortcuts, and game-specific controller and skin settings. Delta Sync can synchronize relevant data between devices. Update notes also describe RetroAchievements support and online-compatible Nintendo DS play through community Nintendo WFC servers. The App Store compatibility panel lists iOS 14 or later for iPhone, iPadOS 14 or later for iPad, macOS 11 or later for Apple-silicon Mac compatibility, and visionOS 1 or later for Apple Vision. Delta lists support for Nintendo Switch Pro controllers and Joy-Cons, Nintendo Switch Online NES, SNES, and N64 controllers, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 controllers, Xbox One S and Xbox Series X controllers, MFi controllers, and Bluetooth or wired keyboards. Actual behavior can depend on iOS, controller firmware, connection method, Delta build, and button mapping.

Touch controls can work well for turn-based games and short sessions. For action games, a physical controller can be more comfortable and leave more of the display visible; it does not improve a game’s emulation compatibility. DS players may prefer a controller with a layout that keeps both screens accessible.
How to install Delta
- Open the official App Store listing in a storefront where it is available.
- Check that the title is Delta – Game Emulator and the developer is Testut Tech.
- Tap Get and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple Account password.
- Open Delta, then import game files you are entitled to use through its import control or the Files app.
If Delta does not appear, verify your Apple Account country or region and your device’s operating-system requirement, then consult the official availability guide. Use AltStore PAL only if Delta’s guide identifies it as the supported route for your location. Avoid unofficial IPA mirrors and apps using Delta’s name or branding.

Importing games: files, BIOS, and the legal distinction
Delta is an emulator, not a game store or a license to download commercial games. Use only game files you are legally entitled to possess or create under the laws that apply to you. Copyright, archival, backup, and format-shifting rules differ by jurisdiction; this is general information, not legal advice. Do not treat ownership of a cartridge or disc as automatic permission to download a copy from an unrelated website.
For a file you are entitled to use, place it somewhere accessible in the Files app or another local source, then use Delta’s import control to select it. The App Store notes say BIOS files are optional for the Nintendo DS core in the listed build; that detail should not be generalized to every system, app version, or core. Installing the official App Store edition avoids risks from random sideloading sites, fake profiles, or tampered IPA files. Apple’s review and distribution process is not a guarantee that every imported file is safe, correctly labeled, or legally obtained. Be cautious with files from unknown sources. Common problems and practical fixes
Delta cannot find or import a file
- Move the file into a location visible in the Files app and try Delta’s file picker again.
- Check that it is for a supported system and in a format Delta can read; an unsupported archive, damaged file, or inaccessible location can prevent import.
- Test with another file you are entitled to use. Do not seek a replacement from a piracy site.
A game is slow or has graphical glitches
- Update Delta through the App Store and test with default settings.
- Consider the demands of N64 or DS emulation, the age of the device, and game-specific compatibility.
- Try a different orientation or skin, and consult Delta’s official documentation or release notes. No single setting fixes every title.
A controller connects but its buttons are wrong
- Confirm the controller works in iOS Bluetooth settings, then disconnect and reconnect it.
- Check Delta’s controller settings and any per-game mapping; test a controller model listed by Delta.
A save state fails after an update
Keep ordinary in-game saves as well as save states. States may be affected by a core change, a damaged state, or replacing the underlying game file, so back up important save data before major updates and avoid relying on a state as your only copy.
When another route or emulator makes more sense
AltStore PAL
AltStore PAL may be relevant where the official Delta guide directs users there, especially in EU distribution contexts. It is a separate alternative marketplace, not a prerequisite for people whose App Store storefront offers Delta. Installation is more involved, and availability and terms vary by location. Broader platforms or desktop configuration
If you need systems Delta does not list, investigate an emulator that explicitly supports those platforms and verify its current availability, compatibility, and terms. Desktop emulators may offer more systems and configuration options, at the cost of mobile convenience and potentially more setup. Delta is the more direct fit when its Nintendo-era system list and App Store installation meet your needs.
