A Fall Guys connection error can mean a server outage, a login or account problem, a blocked connection, restrictive NAT, or damaged game or launcher data—not simply slow internet. Check Epic’s live status first, then troubleshoot the point where the error occurs: login, matchmaking, party, update, or an in-game disconnect.
1. Check whether Fall Guys is down
- Open the Epic Games Public Status page.
- Look for Fall Guys incidents affecting Login, Voice, Website/Portal, Matchmaking, or playing services. Check incident history and maintenance notices as well as current status.
- If a relevant incident is active, wait for Epic to resolve it and try again. Changing your router or reinstalling the game will not fix a server-side outage.
Status can change, so rely on the live page when the error happens rather than an earlier report that services were operational.
2. Identify where the connection fails
Epic groups several different problems under connection troubleshooting: login failures, update or download trouble, startup errors, matchmaking failures, party or friends-list problems, and disconnects after reaching the lobby. Note the exact message or error code and the point where it appears; a speed test alone cannot distinguish among them. Epic’s connection troubleshooting guide covers these cases.
- Before login: check status, clock settings, VPN, firewall, and PC launcher or game data.
- After login, before a match: check matchmaking status, network stability, and console NAT.
- Party or friends list only: consider party services, NAT, or another player’s network rather than general internet speed.
- After an update: confirm the update completed, restart the launcher or console, and verify PC game files.
3. Try the least disruptive fixes first
- Fully close Fall Guys, then reopen it. If that does not help, restart the PC or console.
- Restart the modem and router: power them off, wait briefly, then power them back on and allow the connection to return.
- Reconnect and test the game after each change so you can tell what helped.
- If you are on Wi-Fi, try Ethernet if available, or move closer to the router. A wired connection can reduce wireless instability, but it cannot fix an outage or account problem.
- Temporarily turn off an active VPN or network-filtering tool while testing. Epic recommends disabling VPNs during PC network troubleshooting; a VPN is not a default fix.
- If possible, test another network, such as a mobile hotspot, as a short diagnostic. If the game works there but not on your home network, the router, ISP route, or home-network settings may be involved. This test does not prove which one is responsible.
Epic’s PC connection troubleshooting steps include restarting network equipment, trying a wired connection, and disabling a VPN.

4. Check device time and security software
Synchronize the clock
Epic lists accurate system time as a connection prerequisite because authentication can fail when a device’s date, time, or time zone is wrong. Enable automatic date and time, select the correct time zone, and synchronize with an internet time server. Restart the game afterward. Menu names vary by system version; use the current time-setting instructions for Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch rather than relying on a fixed menu path.
Allow the game through firewall and antivirus
On PC, check that Fall Guys and the launcher you use—Epic Games Launcher or Steam—are allowed through Windows Firewall. Also check whether antivirus web or network protection blocked or quarantined a game component. Prefer a specific application exception to leaving protection disabled; if you temporarily turn off a feature for a test, turn it back on afterward. Epic’s connection guide recommends firewall or antivirus exceptions.
5. Try a different DNS resolver only if basic checks fail
DNS translates service names into network addresses. Changing it may help if your current resolver is failing to resolve an Epic service, but it does not increase raw bandwidth and is unlikely to fix an outage, packet loss, restrictive NAT, or a poor ISP route. Record your original DNS settings before changing them. Epic identifies Google DNS and Cloudflare DNS as alternatives; follow the provider’s current setup instructions for your device rather than assuming the menus are identical everywhere. Restore the original settings if the change makes no difference.
6. Repair the PC installation
Use these steps only for PC installations. Try verification before deleting caches or reinstalling; it is less disruptive. Epic’s broader Fall Guys PC troubleshooting guide also covers cache clearing and Epic Online Services.

Epic Games Launcher: verify Fall Guys files
- Open Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
- Find Fall Guys, open its three-dot menu, and select Manage.
- Select Verify and wait for validation to finish, then relaunch the game.
Epic says verification checks for damaged or corrupted files and repairs differences without affecting saved data. Its verification instructions provide further detail.
Steam: clear download cache and verify files
If Steam seems stuck, use Steam’s Clear Download Cache option, then open Fall Guys in your Library, go to Properties and Installed Files, and select Verify integrity of game files. Labels can vary as Steam updates. Relaunch the game when verification is complete. Epic’s PC troubleshooting guide recommends these steps for Steam installations.
Clear the Epic Games Launcher cache
- Close Epic Games Launcher completely.
- Open the Windows Run dialog, enter
%localappdata%, and press Enter. - Open
EpicGamesLauncher, thenSaved. - Delete the
webcache,webcache_4147, andwebcache_4430folders if present. - Reopen the launcher and try the game.
Cache folder names may differ by installation; a missing folder is not itself an error. Delete only the specified cache folders. See Epic’s error 1005 cache instructions.
Clear the Fall Guys cache folder
As a later Windows-only step, open File Explorer and go to C:Users<your username>AppDataLocalLowMediatonic. Delete the FallGuys_client folder, then restart the game. The AppData folder may be hidden; enable viewing hidden items if needed. This removes local cache data, not a reason to unlink your account. Epic lists this step in its PC troubleshooting guide.

Repair Epic Online Services
- In Epic Games Launcher, open Library, then the three-dot menu beside Fall Guys, and choose Manage.
- Use the folder icon beside Uninstall to open the installation directory.
- Open
EpicOnlineServicesand runEpicOnlineServicesInstaller. - Install on the computer’s main disk when possible, then relaunch the game.
This targeted repair is less disruptive than reinstalling the entire game. See Epic’s PC troubleshooting steps.
7. Check console network and platform settings
On PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo systems, restart the console, run its internet connection test, and check the platform’s online-service status. Also review parental controls, account permissions, and whether the network is restricted, such as at a school or hotel. Epic’s guidance for error 201_010 recommends clearing the device cache where applicable, addressing NAT, and restarting the router and device; consult the current instructions for your console generation because menus differ.
PlayStation and Xbox
Check the PlayStation Network or Xbox service status when other online features are affected, and run the console’s built-in connection test. Review the reported NAT type if the problem is mainly matchmaking or joining parties. Restart the router and console, then test again. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
Run the system’s internet connection test and note its NAT type, download speed, and upload speed. Nintendo says NAT restrictions and wireless conditions can contribute to matchmaking failures; its online matchmaking troubleshooting includes further checks, including IPv6-related troubleshooting in some cases. If the issue persists, contact your ISP or network administrator. For game-specific help, Nintendo directs players to Fall Guys/Epic Games Support.

Understand NAT before changing router settings
NAT labels differ across platforms: “Open,” “Moderate,” “Strict,” and letter grades are not interchangeable. A restrictive NAT may interfere with parties or matchmaking, but it is not proof that NAT caused every connection error. First restart the router, check whether the network has double NAT, and consult the router maker or ISP. If appropriate for your equipment, review UPnP settings. Do not start with port forwarding or rely on port lists that are not documented for the current game and platform. If your ISP uses carrier-grade NAT, you may need to ask the provider about available options.

Error 1005
Error 1005 can be associated with a recent patch or platform synchronization problem, but it does not always have the same cause. On PC, try running the game as administrator, clearing the Epic Games Launcher cache, and verifying files before considering a reinstall. Check for a related service incident or update issue as well. Epic’s error 1005 instructions give the cache path.
Error 201_010
This error is associated with joining a party or viewing the friends list. On PC, verify game files; on console, clear the device cache where supported and check NAT. Restart the router and device, then see whether the problem affects every friend or only one. Check official Fall Guys updates if Epic says the issue is under investigation. Errors 200_19000 and 200_1018
Epic directs players with these codes toward PC cache clearing and game-file verification; if those do not help, its guidance points to installing or reinstalling Epic Games Launcher. Follow the official steps for errors 200_19000 and 200_1018.

9. Narrow down the cause with simple comparisons
- More likely server-side: Epic lists a relevant incident, or the same failure appears across devices and networks. These are clues, not guarantees.
- More likely device- or installation-specific: only one device fails on the same network, especially after a launcher update, and another device can play.
- More likely home-network or ISP-related: another network works while the home connection does not, or the console reports restrictive NAT. That still does not identify the exact router or ISP cause.
- Login succeeds but matchmaking does not: focus on matchmaking status, NAT, network stability, and party services rather than raw download speed.
- Only one friend cannot join: compare the other player’s network and platform status; party connection depends on more than one player’s setup.
If the problem began after changing linked accounts or moving platforms, check that the correct Epic account is connected. Do not unlink accounts casually: account-link changes can affect progression or entitlements. Contact Epic for account-specific trouble.
10. When to contact Fall Guys Support
Contact Fall Guys Support if the status page shows no relevant incident and the appropriate platform fixes have not helped. Include enough detail for support to distinguish an account, device, and network issue:
- Exact error message or code, and whether it affects login, matchmaking, parties, updates, or all services.
- Platform and model; on PC, whether you use Steam or Epic Games Store.
- Your country or region, plus the date and time of failure with time zone.
- Steps already tried and whether another device or network changes the result.
- Game/Support ID or Steam ID, as applicable.
- Ping-command results, a speed-test screenshot, and an optional video showing the failure.
- For PC, DxDiag, MSInfo, and game logs if requested or available.
These are among the diagnostic details Epic requests for unresolved connection problems. Avoid sending passwords or other account credentials.
