Razer’s Stormtrooper Xbox controller is real, but it was announced on May 4, 2022—not launched as a new 2026 product. The limited-edition bundle paired a Stormtrooper-themed wireless controller with a matching quick-charging stand, carried a $199.99 launch MSRP, and remains compatible with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, according to Razer. Today, it is primarily a resale-market purchase rather than a prominent part of Razer’s current Xbox lineup.
What Razer launched
The product was the Razer Wireless Controller — Stormtrooper Limited Edition, sold with a matching Quick Charging Stand. It was a licensed Xbox-compatible wireless gamepad with white-and-black artwork inspired by Stormtrooper armor. The stand was part of the bundle, not simply an optional accessory. This was not a Stormtrooper version of the Razer Wolverine. It used a more conventional Xbox-controller layout, while Wolverine models are Razer’s separate performance-focused line.
When it launched and what it cost
Razer announced the controller on May 4, 2022, for its Star Wars Day promotion. Contemporary coverage reported a July 15, 2022 expected release date and a launch MSRP of $199.99; that is the historical price, not a current retail price. The Stormtrooper design was one of several Razer Star Wars-themed Xbox bundles associated with the 2022 promotion, alongside Grogu, The Mandalorian Beskar, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett designs. The promotional range is also listed in Lucasfilm’s 2022 promotional checklist.

Razer’s support documentation lists the following features and platforms. Battery life and charging time are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

These specifications come from Razer’s Stormtrooper controller support page. Razer lists Windows 10, not every later Windows version, and does not promise compatibility with every future device or operating-system release. Bluetooth should not be confused with Xbox Wireless: Xbox consoles connect using Xbox Wireless, while Bluetooth applies to supported PC and mobile use. On a Windows PC without the required built-in Xbox Wireless support, Razer says an Xbox Wireless Adapter is required for that connection method.
How to pair it with an Xbox
- Turn on the Xbox console and the controller.
- Hold the Xbox Wireless/Pair button on top of the controller until the Xbox button starts blinking.
- Use the console’s normal controller-pairing process to complete the connection.
For button configuration, use the Xbox Accessories app, as listed in Razer’s support documentation.

Can you still buy it?
The Stormtrooper edition is not prominently listed among the products on Razer’s current Xbox product page, which highlights the Wolverine V3 Pro and Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition. Price-tracking and resale records show 2026 activity, but those are marketplace signals rather than official Razer stock or pricing. Examples vary by condition and listing; a historical MSRP of $199.99 should not be treated as today’s going price. See PriceCharting and Pricehistory.
Resale listings can be used, incomplete, refurbished, or incorrectly described. A photo and seller title alone may not establish that the charging stand is included. Confirm the condition and contents with the seller, and check the return policy before paying a collector premium. Warranty coverage for a secondhand unit depends on proof of purchase, region, and Razer’s applicable terms.

What to check before buying a resale unit
- Confirm that both the controller and matching quick-charging stand are included.
- Ask for a demonstration that the controller powers on and pairs with an Xbox.
- Test both thumbsticks for drift and check every face button, bumper, trigger, D-pad direction, Share button, Xbox button, and menu/view control.
- Test the 3.5 mm headset jack and check that the rechargeable battery accepts and retains a charge.
- Inspect the stand’s charging contacts and confirm whether its cable is included.
- Request photos of the product or model identification rather than relying only on the listing title.
- Prefer a seller offering returns and buyer protection; avoid paying a premium for a unit described only as “untested.”
Is it the right Xbox controller for you?
For Star Wars collectors
The main draw is the licensed Stormtrooper design and the matching stand. A complete, well-kept bundle may suit a collector who wants that specific piece, but its value depends on condition and the price you are willing to pay—not on the original MSRP alone.
For everyday Xbox play
If you want a conventional controller with straightforward current availability, compare it with the Xbox Wireless Controller range. The standard option lacks the Stormtrooper artwork, themed stand, and Razer-specific customization, but it is the more direct mainstream comparison.

For performance-focused play
Compare Razer’s current Wolverine models rather than treating the Stormtrooper edition as a Wolverine alternative. The Wolverine V3 Pro is the premium current Razer option; the Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition is the lower-cost wired alternative. Xbox’s accessory marketplace showed price signals of $199.99 for the Pro and $99.99 for the Tournament Edition; these are marketplace prices, not stated here as guaranteed prices in every region or at all times. Neither is a substitute for the Stormtrooper artwork or its included themed stand.
