For a The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom replay, there is no universally best settings preset. Recheck camera feel and aiming first, then choose jump controls, HUD and minimap options that suit you. Before diving back in, use the System Menu to review the controls and any Special Controls you have learned.
Refresh your memory before changing settings
Press the + Button, then press R to navigate to the System Menu. Nintendo says you can review the game’s controls there. The Special Controls section records advanced actions after you encounter them in-game; some Shrines of Light also serve as tutorials. The Nintendo controls and tips page describes this route.
For a quest refresher, check the Adventure Log: it retains quests you have started and completed. Once you know which controls you want to revisit, open Options from the in-game menu or title screen to adjust settings.
Which settings are worth revisiting?
Think in terms of comfort, input style and how much information you want on screen. Change one setting at a time, then see how it feels in both exploration and combat. A third-party settings guide lists the options below, but its suggested preferences are not official Nintendo recommendations, and no single choice is established as best for every player.

Camera sensitivity and inversion
If camera movement feels too slow or too quick after a long break, adjust Camera Sensitivity slightly and try it out before making another change. There is no objectively best value in the cited guide. Vertical Camera Inversion and Horizontal Camera Inversion are personal preferences; if you already know which axes feel familiar, restore those first.
Motion aiming and jump controls
Keep or enable Aim with Motion Controls if moving the controller helps you make fine bow adjustments. Turn it off if motion input gets in the way. Try Swap Jump Controls if its alternate jump arrangement feels more natural to you.

HUD and minimap orientation
HUD Mode lets you choose how much information stays visible. A fuller display may help keep navigation and status details in view; a more reduced display may suit you if you prefer less on-screen information. Minimap North-Lock changes the map’s orientation, so choose based on how you prefer to read it. These are presentation and navigation preferences, not established performance improvements.

Message windows and voice language
Message-Window Transparency is worth adjusting if you want the text background to feel more readable. Voice Language is a presentation choice: select the language you prefer to hear.

A third-party guide reports the following defaults. They may reflect a particular game version or region, so check your own Options menu rather than assuming they will match:

The option names and reported defaults come from IGN’s settings and options guide. Treat the defaults as a reference, not a recommended replay configuration.
Amiibo, if you use it
Amiibo is optional, not a core replay setting. Nintendo says to enable it through System Menu > Options before activating the amiibo ability. Its amiibo instructions for Tears of the Kingdom give the steps.

Can you start a separate new save?
Nintendo describes the Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Edition as including an additional save slot that lets you continue a journey or start a new adventure. Nintendo also warns that the second saved data file created in that edition cannot be transferred to the original Nintendo Switch version. The additional slot is specifically documented for Switch 2 Edition; do not assume it is available in the original Switch edition. Check Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition details before choosing it for a separate replay save.
