Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence is a standalone, free-to-play Division game—not a phone port of The Division 2 and not a way to continue an existing console or PC save. Ubisoft released it worldwide for iOS and Android on March 31, 2026; Ubisoft also documents free PC access through Ubisoft Connect, with shared play and progression between PC and mobile.
What is The Division Resurgence?
The Division Resurgence is a third-person shooter RPG built around the franchise’s recognizable mix of cover-based combat, equipment loot and character progression. It has its own story, playable character and progression, with solo and co-op play, PvE and PvP activities, and open-world exploration. Ubisoft describes it as a living game, with further story, world and challenge content planned.
It is therefore more than a scaled-down version of The Division or The Division 2, but it is not a remake or remaster of either. Ubisoft’s launch announcement dates the worldwide mobile release to March 31, 2026. Its original announcement identifies it as a free-to-play third-person shooter RPG.
How close is it to the mainline Division games?
The familiar loop
The broad appeal is familiar: take cover, fight through missions and encounters, collect equipment, and develop a character build. The game is set in the franchise’s pandemic-disrupted New York world, but its campaign and progression belong to Resurgence. Ubisoft has described the story as a new experience with a new character; earlier developer coverage places it between the first two mainline games, a timeline description best treated as Ubisoft’s framing rather than a separate guarantee of continuity.

What the mobile format changes
Making a cover shooter work on a phone means trading a large screen and conventional controls for portability and touch input. A phone or tablet can lower the hardware barrier for people without a console or gaming PC, but it also makes screen size, sustained battery life, heat, storage and network quality part of the experience. Mobile graphics and performance also depend on the device and settings: one TechRadar review described adjusting to a medium graphics preset to target smoother performance. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a benchmark for every phone.
Where can you play it?
The game launched on iOS and Android. Ubisoft’s support documentation also describes a free PC version through Ubisoft Connect, extending the same game across mobile and PC rather than changing its mobile-first origins. Availability and store requirements can vary by region and change over time, so use the current official store listing for your device.

Install on iPhone or iPad
- Open the U.S. Apple App Store listing or the appropriate regional listing, and confirm Ubisoft is the publisher.
- Check the live compatibility details before downloading. The U.S. listing retrieved for this article showed iOS 15.0 or later and an A12 Bionic chip or later; those are listing details, not permanent requirements for every region or future version.
- Install the game. If you plan to switch to PC or another mobile device, sign in to or link a Ubisoft Connect account.
Install on Android
- Use Google Play or another official Ubisoft-designated distribution source for your region, and verify the publisher and app identity.
- Check the current Android version, device compatibility and storage requirements on that listing. A reliable Android minimum specification is not established here, so do not assume the iOS requirement applies.
- Install and sign in. If you start as a guest, link the account to Ubisoft Connect before changing devices; Ubisoft’s release and availability support points players to official distribution sources and account guidance.
Install on PC
- Install or open Ubisoft Connect and sign in to your Ubisoft account.
- Find The Division Resurgence in the client and download the game.
- Ubisoft lists the PC download at approximately 17 GB and recommends at least 30 GB of free space. Sign in with the same Ubisoft Connect account used on mobile to continue the same Resurgence progression.
Ubisoft’s PC support guide covers installation, storage, controls and account use. Ubisoft’s roadmap discusses additional seasons and a planned story expansion; plans can change, so treat future content as roadmap intent rather than a guarantee of specific dates.
How cross-play and cross-progression work
“Cross-play” here means PC and mobile players can play Resurgence together; “cross-progression” means the same Resurgence account can carry progress between supported devices. It does not connect the game to saves from the mainline titles.

Ubisoft’s PC guide specifies PC/mobile cross-play, shared progression and the same-regional-server condition. Its cross-platform account support addresses purchases, while its guidance on the HD games confirms that progression does not carry over from The Division or The Division 2.
Protect your account before switching devices
A guest session is a risky way to begin if you expect to move between devices. Link it to Ubisoft Connect before replacing a phone, reinstalling the app or starting on PC. Confirm which Ubisoft account is linked before investing substantial time or money; if you signed in through Apple or Google and do not know the associated Ubisoft login, use Ubisoft’s account-recovery process. Shared progress depends on using the same account, not merely owning the game on both devices.

Controls and performance
Touch controls are the default mobile approach for movement, aiming, shooting, cover, abilities and menus. Whether that feels comfortable depends on screen size, button layout and personal preference; do not expect a phone to handle like a console controller without adjustment. An external controller may make aiming and longer sessions more comfortable, but the available official information does not establish compatibility for every mobile controller, operating-system combination or competitive matchmaking rule. Check the game’s current settings and support information before buying an accessory.
On PC, Ubisoft says the game supports mouse and keyboard or a controller. Shared progression does not mean the PC and mobile versions have identical graphics, controls, user interface or performance. On mobile, lower graphics settings may help on some devices, but one review’s settings are not a universal prescription.

Is it really free?
The base game is free to download and play, but it supports in-app purchases. The App Store listing identifies in-app purchases, and Ubisoft says purchases are saved and shared across supported platforms when the same account is used.
The available official information does not establish a dependable current price list or enough detail to judge how paid items affect progression and competition. App Store user reviews include concerns about monetization and randomized draws, but reviews are individual reports, not authoritative documentation of current mechanics or drop rates. On the evidence available, it would be premature to label the game pay-to-win or to claim paid items are purely cosmetic.
Who is The Division Resurgence for?
- Worth a look if: you want a portable take on cover shooting, loot and character builds; enjoy online PvE or PvP; or want to move between mobile and PC without restarting Resurgence.
- Think twice if: you expect a Division 1 or Division 2 save to carry over, prefer offline campaigns, dislike free-to-play stores, or need guaranteed smooth performance on an older or low-storage phone.
- For groups: PC and mobile friends can play together, but they need to use compatible regional servers.
What the pocket-sized pitch really means
The Division Resurgence brings the franchise’s shooter-RPG identity to mobile, with PC access and shared progression widening the ways to play. It is a separate game with a separate character and progression—not the original games squeezed onto a phone. Try it if you want a portable live-service shooter and are comfortable checking device limits and an in-app-purchase economy; skip it if continuity with your HD-game save is the deciding factor.
