Until the update and its patch notes are available, treat any settings recommendation as provisional.
What graphics settings should you use for Metro Redux?
Before the update launches, there is no confirmed preset or set of menu values to recommend. Deep Silver’s announcement describes performance targets, not the settings players will be able to select. It does not say whether 4K/60 FPS and upscaled 4K/120 FPS are selectable modes, automatic outputs, or available on every console model.
As a cautious starting point after the update arrives, use the best-resolution 60 FPS experience the game offers. Consider 120 FPS only if the game exposes that option on your console and your display supports it. This is interim guidance based on the announced targets, not a verified in-game recommendation.
What resolution and frame rates has Deep Silver announced?
Deep Silver says console players can experience “true 4K at 60FPS and upscaled 4K at 120FPS,” with suitable monitor or TV hardware for the 120 FPS output. These are publisher-announced capabilities, not independently tested results or confirmation of particular menu choices. The announcement does not say that a 4K 120 Hz display is needed for 4K/60 FPS.

A compatible 4K 120 Hz display is relevant if you want to use the announced 120 FPS output, but having one does not guarantee the game will expose a selectable 120 FPS mode. The announcement does not specify a required display model or connection standard.

Deep Silver also lists 4K textures, improved animation fidelity, higher-quality audio, richer environmental detail, hardware tessellation, runtime displacement, higher-quality lighting, shadows and particle effects, community-led bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. The announcement does not specify every feature’s availability by console model.

What is the update, and when does it arrive?
The free update covers Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux and is scheduled for October 29, 2026 on consoles. Deep Silver says it preserves the original experience and aesthetic rather than being a full remaster or remake, while adding improvements for modern hardware. The date and feature list are from the publisher’s official update announcement; at the time of writing, the scheduled launch is still in the future.
The publisher says full patch notes covering technical improvements and platform-specific features will be revealed at launch. Until those notes and the actual console menus are available, a precise recommendation—or a claim that one console has the best settings—would go beyond what has been confirmed.

What to check when the update launches
- Whether the game offers distinct resolution and frame-rate choices, and the exact labels used in its graphics menu.
- Whether each option is native resolution or upscaled, and which consoles support each target.
- How Series S compares with Series X and PS5 in selectable modes and image quality.
- Whether PS5 Pro’s PSSR and Series X’s TSR affect the available options or output.
- Whether your display supports the 120 FPS output if you intend to use it.
