Swiss matches are best-of-one in Round 1 and best-of-three from Round 2 onward; every knockout match is best-of-five. This is the format for the 2026 international invitational, not a rule that applies to every Demacia Cup edition.
How the 2026 Demacia Cup is structured
The 2026 Global Invitational is scheduled for October 3–17, 2026. Its 12 teams begin online in Swiss, and the top eight continue to the on-stage knockout in Beijing, according to Natus Vincere’s tournament page.
How teams advance from the Swiss stage
The Swiss stage lasts four rounds. A team advances to the knockout by reaching two wins. Most teams are eliminated when they reach three losses. The exception is the 0–2 group: those teams play a round robin, and a team that fails to finish first is eliminated after its second loss.
Match length and draft
- Round 1: Best-of-one.
- Round 2 onward: Best-of-three, using Fearless Draft.
For Round 1, the higher regional seed chooses sides for Game 1. If the seeds are equal, the team drawn first chooses.

What happens in the knockout stage
Eight teams enter a single-elimination bracket, with every match played as a best-of-five using Fearless Draft. In the quarterfinals, the team with the better Swiss record chooses sides for Game 1; if the records are equal, the team drawn first chooses. Side selection in the semifinals and final is determined by coin flip.
How the 2026 format differs from the 2025 Demacia Cup
The 2025 Demacia Cup was a domestic Chinese post-season tournament with two group stages before its knockout. The difference matters: the 2025 structure should not be mistaken for the 2026 invitational’s Swiss format.
