Modrinth App is a desktop launcher for browsing, installing, updating, and playing Minecraft: Java Edition mods and modpacks. It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and brings Modrinth’s content discovery and instance management into one app. It is not a general-purpose launcher for other games.
What is Modrinth App?
Modrinth App is Modrinth’s open-source desktop launcher, also known as “the launcher” or “Theseus.” Modrinth describes it as a desktop interface for browsing, installing, and playing Modrinth content; it is currently in public beta. The app connects the Modrinth website’s project discovery with tools for managing Minecraft instances. Its advertised features include one-click mod installation, removal, and updates; following projects; sharing modpacks; importing profiles or instances from another launcher; offline mode; and synchronizing settings across instances. What can you install and manage?
Mods and other projects
You can browse Modrinth projects and add compatible content to an instance. The app also supports removing and updating mods. Check each project’s Minecraft version, mod loader, and dependency requirements: a project’s presence on Modrinth does not mean it works with every game version or instance.

Modpacks
A modpack combines a list of mods with additional files, such as configuration files. In the app, browse for a pack and select Install. To share a pack you have assembled, export it from the instance’s Mods tab. Modrinth Help Center: Modpacks on Modrinth
Instances and launcher migration
Modrinth App lets you import profiles or instances from another launcher, which can make switching more convenient. Importing is not a guarantee that every setting or piece of content will transfer exactly as expected; check the resulting instance and its project requirements before launching it.

Which Minecraft versions and mod loaders does it support?
Modrinth’s app announcement lists workflows for vanilla Minecraft, Forge, Fabric, and Quilt. Modrinth App announcement Actual compatibility is determined by the Minecraft version and loader required by each mod or pack, as well as its dependencies. Read the project’s supported versions and installation notes before adding it.
Does Modrinth App work on Windows, Mac, and Linux?
Official downloads are offered for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Modrinth cautions that the Linux app may have issues on some systems and configurations; if it is unstable on your setup, the product page suggests Prism Launcher as an alternative. Modrinth App downloads and information

What do you need before installing?
- A copy of Minecraft: Java Edition for PC. Modrinth App targets Java Edition content; it is not a launcher for Minecraft Bedrock content.
- A supported desktop operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- For modded instances, a Minecraft version and loader that match the mods or pack you intend to use, plus any required dependencies.
Is Modrinth App the right launcher for you?
Choose Modrinth App if you want a launcher centered on Modrinth content, with in-app project discovery, mod and modpack management, instance import, and offline mode. It is especially direct when the mods or packs you want are hosted on Modrinth.
