Don’t buy the item or currency again until you’ve checked which case applies.
When the Fortnite web shop won’t complete an item purchase
Epic says the web shop may show “Something went wrong. We were not able to complete this transaction, please try again later” or “We were unable to complete the transaction, please try again” when an item has left the current rotation. A listing may remain searchable even though it can no longer be purchased. Epic’s explanation of the web-shop error describes this availability issue.

- Refresh the web Item Shop and check whether the item is still in the current listings.
- Open the item description and check the end date shown near the bottom.
- If the listing does not update, visit later or try the in-game Item Shop.
Shop availability changes with rotation; these checks cannot guarantee when, or whether, an item will return.
When V-Bucks bought with real money are missing
Check for a platform or account mismatch before making another purchase. Epic says purchased V-Bucks are added when you sign in to Fortnite on the platform where you bought them. For example, a PlayStation purchase should be checked in Fortnite on PlayStation. See Epic’s missing V-Bucks guidance.

- Restart Fortnite to refresh the displayed balance.
- Sign in on the platform used for the purchase.
- Confirm that the Epic account linked to the game is the account you intended to use.
- Check whether that platform participates in Fortnite Shared Wallet. Balances do not transfer across every platform.
- Review Transaction History. If there is no purchase record, Epic says the transaction did not go through. Check with your bank or payment provider before trying again.
- If you bought a V-Bucks card, redeem its code separately. A standard V-Bucks purchase is not delivered as a code and cannot be gifted to another account.
Contact the store that processed the payment
| Where you bought V-Bucks | Who to contact |
|---|---|
| PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo | Contact that platform’s support. Epic says it cannot process refunds or investigate purchases made through those platform stores. Epic’s purchase-refund guidance. |
| Epic Games Store | Submit a request to Epic Support and include the order number, V-Bucks amount, and platform. Epic’s missing V-Bucks guidance. |
When refunded V-Bucks are not visible
Epic says returned V-Bucks usually appear within a few minutes. If you still cannot see them, use these checks:
- Refresh the Item Shop balance.
- Make sure you are signed into the account on which the refund was processed.
- Inspect your In-Game Currency balances and restart Fortnite.
- If the purchase used a platform balance, such as Nintendo balance, check that balance too: the return may have gone back there instead of to the shared wallet.
These steps concern currency from a processed refund, not a missing original purchase. For the latter, check Transaction History and the purchase platform above. Epic’s guidance on V-Bucks after a refund.

How to undo an Item Shop purchase
Canceling a cosmetic purchase with V-Bucks is different from seeking a refund for a real-money store transaction. Epic’s current guidance sets two self-service options, subject to the item and account meeting the rules. Check Epic’s current return policy and flow; the interface labels may change between versions.
Cancel Purchase: within 24 hours
You can use Cancel Purchase within 24 hours only if you have not used or equipped the item in any game mode.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
Return Ticket: eligible purchases from the past 30 days
After the 24-hour cancellation window, an eligible item bought within the past 30 days may be returned using a Return Ticket. Epic lists exclusions that include passes, gifted purchases, some packs, and developer-made island purchases. Accounts start with three tickets, receive one every 365 days if below the maximum, and can hold no more than three. Epic Support cannot grant extra tickets.
Use the current in-game or web self-service return flow to check the item’s eligibility and complete the request.

If the error is different from these cases
The guidance above covers the web-shop rotation message, missing or returned V-Bucks, and Item Shop returns; it does not establish a universal fix for every payment decline or platform error code. For a different message, keep the exact error text and note which platform processed the purchase. Contact that platform’s support for a console-store transaction, or Epic Support for an Epic Games Store purchase.
