What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Possibly, but it is not a safe assumption. A PC without a separate graphics card may still have graphics built into its processor. Steam’s published minimum requirements name discrete cards, and Intel warns that the game can crash at launch on Intel graphics or run at very low performance if it starts. Whether it works on your PC depends on its exact processor and graphics hardware.
What “without a graphics card” means
People often use “graphics card” to mean a separate, plug-in GPU. A computer without one may still use integrated graphics built into its processor. Check the PC’s processor and graphics device before deciding whether it meets the game’s requirements; the absence of a separate card alone does not identify what graphics hardware is available.
Batman: Arkham Knight’s published PC requirements
Steam lists the following minimum and recommended specifications. These are published requirements, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate.

|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 | 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-750 at 2.67 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965 at 3.4 GHz | Intel Core i7-3770 at 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 at 4.0 GHz |
| Memory | 6 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 with 2 GB memory or AMD Radeon HD 7870 with 2 GB memory | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 with 3 GB memory or AMD Radeon HD 7950 with 3 GB memory |

What Intel says about running it on Intel graphics
Intel’s support article, last reviewed September 4, 2024, says Batman: Arkham Knight may crash at launch on Intel graphics platforms. If it does load, Intel says it may exhibit “very low performance while playing the game.” That is a warning about a possible problem, not evidence that every integrated GPU behaves identically or that the game will be playable on a particular PC.
Intel documents a workaround involving a modified dxgi.dll that forces an Intel graphics device to be selected. Intel warns that this can increase startup time and is incompatible with other workarounds that use the same DLL filename. This is a specific troubleshooting option, not a general fix or a performance guarantee. Consult Intel’s support article on Arkham Knight launch crashes with Intel graphics before attempting it.

How to judge your own PC
- Identify the exact processor and graphics device in your PC’s system information or manufacturer specifications. If a separate GPU is absent, determine which integrated graphics unit the processor provides.
- Compare the graphics hardware with Steam’s listed minimum: a GTX 660 with 2 GB or Radeon HD 7870 with 2 GB. Integrated graphics are not among the named minimum cards.
- Look for a benchmark of the exact processor and graphics configuration, including memory setup, driver, game version, resolution, and settings. The official sources do not establish a reliable frame-rate figure for any specific integrated GPU.
- If you are considering a graphics-card upgrade, check compatibility with the whole system—especially the power supply, case clearance, and motherboard. The listed minimum cards are older models, and meeting that minimum does not promise smooth performance.
Practical verdict
Without a dedicated card, Arkham Knight might launch on some systems with integrated graphics, but the official information does not establish dependable performance across those systems. Intel specifically warns of launch crashes and very low performance on Intel graphics platforms. For a useful answer about your PC, the decisive details are its exact processor and GPU, rather than whether a separate card is installed.
