Pokémon Wordle was scheduled to be taken down on October 3, 2026, according to an October 1 report by Siliconera. The report says developer giga_yadoran planned the removal after contact from The New York Times about Wordle rights. Available sources do not confirm whether the game actually went offline on the scheduled date.
What is Pokémon Wordle?
Pokémon Wordle is a Japanese-language browser game in which players guess Pokémon names. Its own page describes the game as a Pokémon version of Wordle and instructs players, in Japanese, to guess a Pokémon’s name in ten challenges. Siliconera also describes question selection by generation or game.
That format is not identical to the original Wordle. Siliconera describes Wordle as a five-letter word puzzle solved in six attempts with color-coded feedback; Pokémon Wordle’s stated ten-challenge rule and Pokémon-name format differ. The available descriptions do not establish that every detail of Wordle’s mechanics applies to the fan game.
Why was the game reportedly being taken down?
Siliconera reported on October 1, 2026, that developer giga_yadoran announced a planned removal for October 3 after The New York Times contacted the developer over alleged infringement of rights concerning Wordle. The report paraphrases the developer’s explanation; its linked social-media post could not be independently checked. This is a reported account, not evidence of a court ruling, lawsuit, or formal cease-and-desist.

Did Pokémon Wordle actually go offline?
The scheduled date was October 3, 2026, but the available reporting does not confirm that the takedown was completed. The game page’s minimal description does not establish that the game remains normally playable, either. Its status after the planned date is therefore unconfirmed.
What can you play instead?
PokeDoku
Siliconera points readers to PokeDoku, but it is a different kind of puzzle, not an equivalent Wordle-style game. PokeDoku describes itself as a free daily 3×3 Pokémon trivia grid: players fill each cell with a Pokémon that fits the categories for its row and column. Its site says Doku Games LLC is not affiliated with Nintendo and does not claim Nintendo or Pokémon trademark rights.
