Routes and rewards shape the build
Dungeons are procedurally generated. As players gain experience and level up, they choose rewards, receive blessings from the gods, and find relics that can change a run. The route is described as one-way: doors lock behind the player, bosses close off regions, and portal choices influence the rewards available next. Those decisions make the path itself part of a run’s build strategy.
Announcement coverage also attributes a longer explanation of the design to McKay: “ALLFATHER is built on the roguelike foundations players know me for. Tension and real decisions. Death resets the run, not everything
Death ends the current run, but runes and iron persist in Hel’s Hall. According to Steam, players can use those resources with merchants, craft weapons that change their play style, and allocate ability-boosting runes between runs. The result is a mix of run-level risk and lasting progression: the route and its choices are temporary, while some resources and upgrades carry forward.
