Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launched for PS5 on October 2, 2026, and its US PlayStation Store listing shows the game as available. The new entry in Bandai Namco’s flight-action series pairs a single-player campaign with optional online modes. The US store lists Standard and Deluxe editions; prices and offers may differ by region and change over time.
What Ace Combat 8 is
Bandai Namco describes the campaign as a single-player flight-combat story set in Strangereal, the series’ fictional world. Missions include air-to-air dogfights, ground attacks, anti-ship combat and battles against giant fictional weapons. More than 30 aircraft are divided into fighter, attack, multi-role and electronic-warfare roles. These are publisher descriptions, not claims based on hands-on testing.

You command Joker Squadron, choose its composition for missions and issue orders to wingmen. The story is set in July 2029: the Republic of Sotoa invades the Federation of Central Usea and captures its capital, Theve. The player is rescued by the aging carrier Endurance. Bandai Namco’s announcement describes an in-game Land Battleship as approximately 450 meters long.
The PlayStation Store describes fast-paced, arcade-style handling, multi-layered clouds and first-person scenes between cockpit action and the pilot’s story. Bandai Namco’s PlayStation Blog announcement provides the campaign and story details.

The June 2 announcement also described a pre-order bonus: a PS5-ported version of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2006, and playable F-14A Tomcat aircraft. That was a pre-order offer, not confirmation that it remains available now. Bandai Namco cautioned that Deluxe content and offers can vary by country and may be digital-only. Check your regional store’s live listing before buying.

The official listings establish digital PlayStation Store editions. They do not confirm boxed PS5 availability in any particular market. The US PlayStation product page has the current US edition details.
Solo campaign, online modes and controller features
The campaign is single-player, but the US listing also describes online modes, including co-op and cross-platform play, and an online lobby called a social air base. It lists support for up to eight online players. Online play is optional; a PlayStation Plus subscription is required for online play. The listing also identifies one-player play and Remote Play.

The official announcement confirms the October 2, 2026 PS5 release, and the US PlayStation Store page lists the game for PS5. The release report also names Xbox Series X|S and PC, but those platforms are not directly verified by the official PlayStation product listing cited here.
