It changes more than scenery: its settings also affect weather, temperature, and snow. It is a community mod, not an announced Pearl Abyss feature. Separately, Pearl Abyss now lists Charting the Unknown for October 29, 2026 (GMT/PT).
What Seasons of Pywel changes
Khione95’s Nexus Mods listing says the year begins in summer and the seasons progress through autumn, winter, and spring before returning to summer. Its default season length is 30 in-game days, with other durations configurable. The author describes the transitions as happening live, without a reload; distant foliage may take longer to update as it loads or after travel. These are the mod author’s descriptions, not independently verified performance claims.

Four distinct looks
- Summer: The starting season and the baseline for the cycle.
- Autumn: Trees, bushes, grass, and terrain shift toward gold, orange, and brown.
- Winter: Snow, frost, and snowfall appear, while the Crimson Desert’s ground remains bare and warm.
- Spring: Leaves and grass return to fresh green.
The author sums up the approach in the listing: “Pywel gets four seasons. They follow the in-game calendar and change live while you play: no reloads, no picking mods, no game files changed on disk.”
Weather, warmth, and deep snow
The mod also configures seasonal weather: snow is more frequent in winter, rain more frequent in autumn, some rain in spring, and occasional rain in summer. The temperature system is adjusted so warmth and clothing can matter; fires still warm the player. The version 1.0.2 changelog says winter cold was adjusted to avoid making some chilly areas deadly cold.

Seasonal temperature offsets and other details are listed on the Seasons of Pywel Nexus Mods page.
How to install the mod on PC
The mod page gives two installation routes. Follow its current instructions for the version you download; these steps are the author’s instructions and have not been independently tested here.
Using DMM
- Drop the downloaded mod archive onto DMM.
- Enable Seasons in DMM’s ASI tab.
Manual installation
- Install an ASI loader if you do not already have one.
- Copy the mod’s ASI file and data folder into Crimson Desert’s
bin64directory.
The author says the mod does not change game files on disk. It is a PC modding option, not an official console feature.
Compatibility to check
- Mods that replace the same tree, grass, or terrain textures may produce mixed-looking results outside summer.
- Other weather mods may conflict.
- After a game update, features the mod can no longer find may be disabled until the mod is updated.
The listing showed version 1.0.2, last updated October 2, 2026, with notes on snow and cold fixes, configurable deep snow, and more season-length options. Check the mod page for the latest version and compatibility notes before installing.

What the mod’s settings let you choose
The listing supports several configuration choices, but does not prescribe one setup as best for every player.
| Choice | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Calendar-following or fixed season | Whether seasonal changes follow the in-game calendar or use a fixed season. |
| Season length | The default is 30 in-game days per season; the listing offers configurable alternatives. |
| Deep snow on or off | With deep snow on, snowfall accumulates and melts over time. Turning it off retains winter snow cover, snowfall, and cold. |
| DMM or manual installation | DMM uses the manager’s ASI tab; manual installation uses an ASI loader and copies the mod files into bin64. |
When does Charting the Unknown release?
Pearl Abyss’s official notice, dated September 30, 2026, gives Charting the Unknown a release date of October 29, 2026 (GMT/PT). That later notice supersedes the previously announced October 15 date. Pearl Abyss said it needed additional development time to refine the content and deliver a more polished, stable experience. The French notice says, “Rendez-vous à Pywel le 29 octobre (GMT/PT) !” (“See you in Pywel on October 29 (GMT/PT)!”). See the official release notice.
What the DLC includes
Pearl Abyss’s official DLC page describes ocean exploration, islands, underwater diving for treasures and ruins, new threats, and stories for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane. It also lists facility rental and management, plus upgraded housing. The page says the DLC will not be available on the Mac App Store at launch; Pearl Abyss says it will announce separately if a Mac release follows.
Charting the Unknown and Seasons of Pywel are separate: the first is Pearl Abyss DLC, while the latter is a third-party mod. The DLC description does not identify the four-season system as an official feature.
