What the report says happened
In a report published October 2, 2026, Brady Klinger-Meyers of The Nerd Stash described a video posted by TikTok user Sanni_vs. The report places the interaction at an AT&T visit in Illinois. It says the customer was there to upgrade her phone and change her plan; no particular phone model is identified as central to the incident.
According to the report, the customer felt the employee was treating the plan change as a major inconvenience. She told the employee not to bring personal issues to work and said she should call off if she felt that way. The report says the employee acknowledged having a bad day and working long hours, apologized, and began crying. When the employee said she had not used the restroom all day, the customer responded sympathetically. As the employee walked away, the customer said, “You’re having a breakdown, but you don’t know how to communicate.”
What is known—and what is not
The incident details above are The Nerd Stash’s account of a TikTok video, not independently confirmed facts. The report does not name either woman or identify the store. No independent statement from the customer, the employee, or AT&T about this specific interaction was available in the reporting. That means the article’s description cannot establish exactly how either person behaved beyond what it says the video shows, or settle their differing interpretations of the exchange.

How AT&T’s upgrade guidance relates
AT&T’s general support page, “Check Upgrade Eligibility and Options,” was last updated June 4, 2026. It explains that customers changing plans must choose among current wireless plans and describes checking upgrade eligibility and selecting a phone online.
