Finish the full campaign on any difficulty to unlock New Game+ in 007 First Light. You can then replay from the beginning or a completed checkpoint, use outfits you have unlocked, and swap between gadgets as the story makes them available. New Game+ also unlocks the punishing 00 difficulty, but you can use outfit and gadget customization on Easy, Normal, or Hard instead.
How to unlock and start New Game+
New Game+ arrived in the free Extended Operations update, Update 1.3.0, available October 1, 2026. IO Interactive says the requirement is to complete the entire campaign on any difficulty; the official notes do not describe a shorter unlock route. - Complete the campaign on Easy, Normal, Hard, or another available difficulty.
- Select the New Game+ option and choose the campaign beginning or a checkpoint you have already completed.
- Use the journal to switch outfits, or restart from a chosen checkpoint. The exact button prompts and menu sequence can vary by platform, so follow the prompts shown in your version.
- Swap gadgets during missions when you want, subject to the gadgets unlocked by that point in the story.
What carries over in New Game+?
IO Interactive confirms that unlocked outfits are available in the replay and that you can change outfits through the journal. You can also swap gadgets during a mission rather than waiting for another chapter, but only gadgets already unlocked at that point in the campaign can be selected. This does not mean every gadget is available from the opening.
The official announcement and patch notes do not provide a category-by-category account of what happens to collectibles, challenge completion, or every other campaign progression item in a New Game+ run. Treat those details as undocumented; the confirmed outfit and gadget options are not proof that all progress or inventory carries over.

Do you have to play New Game+ on 00 difficulty?
No. Unlocking New Game+ also unlocks 00, a new and substantially harder difficulty, but outfit and gadget customization is available on Easy, Normal, and Hard as well. Choose the difficulty for the kind of replay you want, not as a condition for using New Game+ features. (IO Interactive’s announcement)
What makes 00 harder?
IO Interactive describes faster enemy reactions to bodies and disturbances, tougher guard variants replacing some archetypes, restrictions on gadget use within a guard’s line of sight, two-hit kills, tighter parry and sidestep timing, and less agency gained during fights. These are 00 difficulty mechanics, not requirements for a New Game+ replay.

New Game+ is not cross-progression
New Game+ concerns replaying the campaign. Cross-progression is a separate IOI Account feature for sharing selected online progress between linked platforms, and it does not transfer campaign saves or campaign progression. IOI documents cross-progression for PC (Epic, Steam, and Microsoft Store), Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5. Its support page says Nintendo Switch 2 launches in March 2027 and that details for that platform will follow. (IOI cross-progression support page)
For cross-progression, IOI lists shared TacSim XP, clearance level, inventory, campaign and TacSim challenge progress, unlocks and inventory, and IOI Account rewards. DLC and game licenses, collectibles, achievements or trophies, and leaderboards are not shared. DLC-based unlocks require owning the relevant DLC on the platform being used. Before changing your primary progression profile, read the in-account warning: IOI says switching profiles can invalidate the local save on the platform you are switching from.
