As reported on October 1, 2026, the schedule called for a demonstration and picket on October 6, followed by strike days on October 7 and 8; further action on October 13–15 was conditional on whether talks reopened. Those dates were still in the future as of October 3, so the outcome was not yet known.
What Ubisoft workers announced for October
La Repubblica reported on October 1 that 105 Ubisoft employees were protesting an “in-office first” policy, which workers say prioritizes attendance at the office and provides too few exceptions for remote work. After a workers’ assembly voted for mobilization, the RSU announced this schedule:
- October 6, 11:00: a demonstration and picket at Piazza degli Incontri, Assago Milanofiori Nord.
- October 7–8: strike days.
- October 13–15: a further picket and strike package if the company did not reopen negotiations.
These were announced dates, not completed events, at the October 3, 2026 reporting snapshot. No turnout or outcome after that date is established here.
Why employees say the policy is a problem
Workers cited long journeys, travel costs and the difficulty of living near Milan. According to the October 1 report, some employees live outside the region and many live more than 100 kilometres from the office; workers described commutes of as much as two hours each way. These are concerns reported by workers and their union, not independently measured conditions for every employee.

Fiom Cgil Milano official Ludovico Di Muzio urged Ubisoft to return to negotiations, saying, “L’azienda riapra la trattativa, non possiamo accettare soluzioni unilaterali” (“The company should reopen negotiations; we cannot accept unilateral solutions”). He also cited Milan housing costs and fuel expenses for people travelling from outside the city, as quoted by la Repubblica.
The demands go beyond remote work
The reported worker platform calls for negotiations on several employment terms, not only the amount of remote work. The RSU also said it was maintaining a state of agitation, including an overtime ban and limits on extra flexibility beyond employees’ job duties.

- An agreement with an ultrattività clause: existing terms would remain in force if an agreement ended, until a new agreement was reached.
- Measures addressing cost-of-living pressures and work-life balance.
These demands and the announced labor measures were reported by la Repubblica.
How the October dispute differs from February’s strike
The October mobilization is separate from the three-day strike reported in February 2026. The two episodes have different dates, policy descriptions and reported worker counts; the coverage does not establish that the counts refer to identical groups or that the policies had precisely the same terms.

What Ubisoft said about office attendance earlier in 2026
In February, Multiplayer.it reported Ubisoft’s rationale for a five-day office return supplemented by an annual allowance of remote-work days. The company said the aim was to strengthen collaboration, knowledge sharing and team dynamics, which it associated with collective efficiency and creativity. That is the company’s stated rationale, not independent evidence that office attendance produces those results; the available reporting does not establish whether Ubisoft issued a separate explanation for the October policy.
Multiplayer.it also described a hybrid arrangement reached after negotiations in 2025: three days in the office and two remote. That account provides background to February’s dispute; it does not establish that the arrangement remained unchanged or was the exact policy displaced by the October dispute.
