Blizzard published the World of Warcraft 12.1.5 update notes on October 1, 2026. The update is scheduled to arrive on October 13, 2026; that is an announced date, not a confirmation that the patch has launched. Its headline additions are a story campaign, a single-boss raid, the new Labyrinth activity, hourly Aqir Invasions, and a mid-season gear-upgrade path.

What are the major additions in 12.1.5?
Blizzard presents 12.1.5 as the continuation and conclusion of the Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman saga. The official notes name the campaign “The Promise of Tomorrow,” the raid “The Unbinding of Kith’ix,” Labyrinths, Aqir Invasions, and a Season 2 mid-season refresh. They also include sections for achievements, classes, housing, PvP, Prey, the user interface and accessibility, and Warband reputation. The overview below focuses on the new activities and progression details Blizzard describes; it is not an item-by-item account of every change in those other sections.

The Promise of Tomorrow
The new campaign follows Ula’tek’s defeat and brings players toward a confrontation with Kith’ix, a C’Thraxxi general. Blizzard frames the campaign as part of the saga’s conclusion.

The raid is a focused encounter against a single boss, with Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. Mythic uses a flexible group size of 15–25 players, according to Blizzard’s notes. The range applies to that difficulty; the overview does not specify group sizes for the other modes.
How do Labyrinths work?
Labyrinths are sprawling, mega-dungeon-like experiences built around exploration, a companion, dedicated progression systems, and rewards. Blizzard describes them as a deeper adventure for players who enjoy Delves.

The first is the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, an ancient Amani funeral complex with nine chambers. Players can tackle it in one run or complete it a wing at a time. Taking on more rooms increases both the chance to find treasure and the risks, so the format supports either a longer delve into the complex or incremental progress.
What are Aqir Invasions?
Aqir Invasions are public events in Eversong or Zul’Aman. Each event lasts 10 minutes and occurs once an hour, according to Blizzard’s overview. Players move through a sequence of public objectives before facing a boss.

The events include six scenario types, divided between combat and non-combat activities. Combat scenarios can feature eight possible affixes. Their zone-wide, time-limited format makes them a different choice from the raid or the more exploratory Labyrinth.
How do Ascendant Venomstones upgrade gear?
After 12.1.5 launches, Ascendant Voidcores return under the name Ascendant Venomstones. Blizzard lists four sources:

Ten Ascendant Venomstones can raise the item level of one eligible, fully upgraded Season 2 item: a Hero-, Mythic-, or highest-quality Tidal-crafted weapon, trinket, or necklace. The stated upgrade applies to those qualifying slots and upgrade states; Blizzard’s overview does not describe it as a general item-level boost for other gear.

For character upgrades, the relevant choice is whether your usual endgame activities include one of the listed Venomstone sources and whether you have an eligible Season 2 weapon, trinket, or necklace that is already fully upgraded.
