Andy Edser’s answer to “What mouse should I use for work and gaming?” is to use two: the Logitech MX Master 4 for work and the Razer Cobra HyperSpeed for fast-paced games. In his account for PC Gamer, each mouse suits a different task and feel. That is a personal setup, not a controlled head-to-head test or a universal recommendation.
Why one mouse didn’t suit every task
Edser’s approach starts with fit: hand shape, finger length and technical needs vary, so the mouse that feels right to one person may not work for another. Rather than ask either model to do everything, he uses one for work and one for fast-paced gaming.
| Mouse | Role in Edser’s setup | What he values |
|---|---|---|
| Logitech MX Master 4 | Work | Comfortable shape for all-day use, quiet operation, horizontal scrolling and programmable buttons |
| Razer Cobra HyperSpeed | Fast-paced gaming | Small size for quick fingertip movements, plus the sensor, tactile switches and subtle underbody RGB |
These are Edser’s qualitative impressions. His article does not provide measurements, a controlled comparison, or an overall ranking.
Why the MX Master 4 works for his workday
Edser describes the MX Master 4’s shape as a good fit for long work sessions and appreciates that it operates quietly. Its horizontal scroll wheel is particularly useful to him in spreadsheets, while programmable buttons provide additional controls for work tasks. Those features make it his work mouse; they do not establish that it will be comfortable or useful for every hand or workflow.

Why he reaches for the Cobra HyperSpeed in games
For fast-paced games, Edser prefers the Cobra HyperSpeed’s smaller size, which he finds suited to quick fingertip movements. He also likes its sensor and tactile switches, as well as the subtle RGB lighting beneath the mouse. These are his reasons for choosing it, not independently verified performance findings.
Is a two-mouse setup right for you?
Edser’s experience suggests a practical option: choose equipment around the task rather than insist on one mouse being ideal for every situation. A work-focused shape and controls may matter during a long day, while a smaller mouse that suits fingertip movement may feel better in fast-paced games.

That does not mean everyone needs two mice. If one model feels comfortable and works well for both your work and games, there is no reason to switch. If you find yourself compromising in one setting, trying separate purpose-specific mice may be worth considering. The deciding factor is your own hand, grip and needs—not a claim that either of these models is best for everyone.

Edser’s October 2, 2026 PC Gamer article explains why he uses the Logitech MX Master 4 for work and the Razer Cobra HyperSpeed for gaming. It does not establish current prices, stock, regional availability, manufacturer specifications, long-term reliability or which mouse would suit a particular reader. Its useful takeaway is narrower: for Edser, switching between two very different mice works better than looking for one perfect fit.
