Its biggest addition is free Chaos Siege, a PvE mode that lets players fight as Chaos Space Marines across two sectors on Avarax. The update also adds Crucible challenge progression, a one-handed thunder hammer, weapon and class changes, and new customization. The Space Wolves Champion Pack and Exorcists Cosmetic Pack are optional cosmetics, not requirements for either new mode.
What Chaos Siege adds
Chaos Siege is the first PvE mode in Space Marine 2 that lets players take the role of Chaos Space Marines. Players battle Tyranids, Cadians and loyalist Space Marines across two Siege sectors on Avarax. Focus Entertainment described the free addition as “a brand new mode letting you play as Chaos Space Marines in PvE games for the very first time.”
The two sectors are the available launch scope. A September preview said a third sector was in development; that was a plan, not part of the launch content.
Crucible adds a separate challenge path
Crucible is for players who want to make missions more demanding rather than switch sides. Before a mission, players choose Penances—personal negative modifiers that increase the challenge. Completing missions earns Crucible XP toward rewards, including the Lamenters armour set.
